“Grandsons first week”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

Stayed here when we came to visit our new Grandson. Hotel was very clean. Breakfast was wonderful. The staff reflected the managers style of customer service first with a smile. Everyone was welcoming and friendly. No grumps anytime in the 4 nights we stayed even in the face of TV issues which took 4 days for the company to find and fix even though they worked around the clock!! Will definitely stay here again!!!

“Excellent value and service...returned for a second night”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

As other reviews have noted, the customer service by both the front desk staff and cleaning staff is fantastic (thank you, Jennifer!!). We were given welcome sodas (because of Priority Club status), upgradeson both visits, and Jennifer even printed out directions for us to the Petroglyphs (worth a visit if you have time) without our having to request them.

Both visits (one week apart), we stayed on the fourth floor in King room. Our rooms were impeccably clean, very comfortable, and offered a view of the mountains. Be sure to ask for a 4th floor room with a view if available.

We originally planned to stay another night in Santa Fe before flying out of Albuquerque. However, we were disappointed with the Best Western Plus in Santa Fe and really wanted to get back to this Holiday Inn Express. We even called the front desk on our way to see when could check in. That's when Jennifer (who remembered us from the prior weekend) not only told us to come on (at 11:30 in the morning!) but also automatically upgraded us to a better room.

We'll definitely stay here when we return to Albuquerque.

Breakfast -- fresh pancakes, yummy cinnamon rolls, eggs, sausage gravy, sausage, yogurts, instant oatmeal, cereals, bananas, oranges, coffee, hot chocolate, juices. Large dining area with fireplace. The coffee and oranges seemed to be available all the time.

Fitness Center-- adequate, clean, included a TV, water cooler, antibacterial cleaner, towels.

Pool - didn't use, but noticed several people did.

Parking - ample

Nearby - loved the Pueblo Cultural Center across the street (especially the restaurant). Also within walking distance: Walgreens and Arby's.

Short 5 min. drive to Old Town where we found free on- street parking (paid lots were either $3 for 4 hours or $2 per hour). We enjoyed wandering around Old Town Albuquerque much more than Santa Fe. Be sure to meander into the the courtyards and check out the Rattlesnake Museum.

Thank you so much for taking the time to review our hotel. I am glad that you enjoyed your stay with us. I agree with you on 4th floor with the view - I like the top floor too! I could look at those mountains all day!
Jennifer is an asset to our team. She puts her heart into all that she does. I will pass on your review to her. It will put an even bigger smile on her face.
Have a wonderful day!!

“Customer service makes the case”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

The hotel itself is nothing more than average -- I think it's probably an old building. Our group had issues with smoky rooms (on a fully non-smoking property) and the heating system (pumping AC when it was set on heat in mid-winter). The bathrooms look aged and the walls are cracked in spots. But it's clean enough and comfortable enough.

What got the property that fourth star is the customer service. The two women at the front desk were phenomenal and went above and beyond. They let us check in en masse many hours before check in, to accommodate our conference schedule, they moved us around to fix issues, and they even gave our colleagues a ride to the conference venue when they noticed one of them had a cast on her leg. I would return here just because I know that I'll be treated with kindness and friendliness at all times.

Room Tip: The business center has one very slow computer and a printer (and is very hot) -- not useful for mor...

Thank you for taking a few moments to rate us! We just celebrated our 3rd Birthday in January.

I would like to apologize on behalf of the hotel on the room conditions. If you could provide us with the room # we will be happy to look into the Heating/AC unit, as well as the cracks to ensure that another guest does not have the same experience. It is our goal to make each guests stay enjoyable.

Thank you for the comments on our team, I will share this with them. People & customer service are #1. I hope that you will stay with us again on your next visit to Albuquerque. You may send any further information to gmabqww@yahoo.com. Thank you again!

“A good nights stay”

Staff were friendly and helpful, rooms were clean and comfortable. Pool whilst not big was adequate. Breakfast was as expected in a Holiday Inn very good. I'd recommend this hotel

“Upscale Feel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

This hotel is 3 years old and still feels new. The furnishings have very clean lines and upscale. You didn't hear any street noise from I-40. The suites only have an arch between the sleeping and seating area but are very spaciousness. Very comfortable beds and linens. The odd thing was the bathroom door when open blocked the entry door -- very bad design. It's not located directly in 'Old Town' as you would think from their name, but north of I-40 on 12th street --Old Town is south about 2-3 miles away and an easy drive. Easy off/on to I-40 both ways. The mountains shown on the site are quite far away but still within view; located in a new business park with currently only one other office building. The breakfast was the good/norm but more hot selections: eggs, sausage patties, biscuits & gravy. Very nice breakfast area with sofa and TV. Staff was very welcoming. Although we enjoyed our stay I think the price point was a little high for the busy location and not being a two-room suite.

Room Tip: King suites face the mountains.
