“Rates an A+ in my books”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2010

Unlike some of the negative comments about this hotel, our stay was top-notch. Having just covered over 5000 miles travelling through the US, trust me, this is a hotel that offers excellent value. The breakfast selections are too numerous to mention, but above all, the hot choices are fresh and constantly replenished. I have never stayed in a place that offers complimentary dinner snacks, never mind including free beer and wine! You could make a meal of it (but why would you want to when there are so many great restaurants in the area
that are reasonable). The rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean. My only agreement with the other negative reviews is that the aircon is located right next to the bed, but again, I've experienced far noisier ones in my travels. Perhaps if you needed to stay for an extended period, you may come to find any of thiese places predictable and the food boring, but the same could be said for the fare in one's own home.
The hotel reception staff were all polite and most accomodating to any requests. Having paid the same or more at a number of similar hotels and gotten a whole lot less, I have to say, it's been the best stay so far in our trip across America. Kudos, Residence Inn!

“Good Place for Extended Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2010

The Residence Inn is a good place to be at on extended business stays. They serve a good hot breakfast seven days a week and a light evening meal Monday through Thursday. It is well located, next to the 83/77 freeway, across the freeway from the local mall and near numerous retail and eating places. The one bedroom units are nice and fairly well maintained.
Only caution would be over holiday weekends when many Mexican families get away from Mexico. Too many children are allowed to run the hallways unsupervised, making noise.

“More for than a comfortable stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2009

Had to choose from a number of hotels in the same area. Brownsville Residence Inn
was more than a hotel room. I actually booked into an all suite hotel. Had to work late a number of nights. Was able to heat my left overs in my own oven. Full size frig was also
a plus. Not the same hotel as most had mentioned. Since thier remodel now have new bedding, new wall paper, and even flat screen tvs. Evening socials are a hit with their light dinners, beer, wine. New management even offered margaritas during a managers reception.

“Better Choices in the Area, Skip this outdated Residence Inn”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2009

I stayed at this Residence Inn for 10 nights. As a very frequent business traveler, this is by far the worst Residence Inn I have ever been to. As some previous reviews have stated the food, cable tv, air conditioner noise etc. all leave alot to be desired. Just choose the Homewood suites or Staybridge Suites nearby. Two much better choices as I have stayed at both here in Brownsville.

“Not as good as other Residence Inns”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2009

I have stayed at this Residence Inn from Jan 09 - Aug 09. During the past 2 months it has been on the decline; cost cutting efforts.
You use to get the local Sunday newspaper no more. However if you call the desk they will provide one for you. They will not tell you this.
Cable TV was changed to Directv reducing the number of stations and picture quality.
My room is cleaned daily, but not vacuumed unless I ask.
The air conditioner for suites with one bed room are located in the wall of the bedroom. I have stayed in 5 rooms until I got one wherre the air conditioner did not keep me awake, and the matress was not soft.
The staff are very accomidating at the desk and housekeeping.
I used to be able to enter from a street in the back where there was a driveway into the parking lot. This has been closed and now I have no direct entrance into the parking lot without going several minutes out oof my way.
Security guard is no longer available.
High Speed Internet is not too high speed.
Food provided Mon - Thur use to be OK, but now ithey offer very little that is appealing so I may get something 1 time a week if lucky.

As I said at the beginning it was pretty good when I first arrived but down hill. If it was not for having a kitchen, suite, and wanting the points I would have gone to another location.
