We recently visited Corpus Christi to enroll my daughter in college there at TAMUCC. I was travelling with my 19 year old daughter, her friend and my 14 year old son along with our small dog! I had doubts after reading the reviews, but we were very pleasantly surprised. We were on the 3rd floor towards the back. We had everything we needed, our room and bathroom were clean and had a coffee pot, ironing board, hair dryer and looked to be freshly painted, our dog had a place to stay, and we were within a 5 minute drive to the bay area, 10 minutes to the school. Overall it worked out great! It took less than a minute to check in and out. The staff was very courteous and they even had a staff person preparing waffles in the morning for their guests.

The lobby was beautiful, the service great, but when we walked into the rooms, the moldy smell was overwhelming, even with the air freshener.

First off, I must say that I never write reviews for anything, but I was so shocked at the state of this hotel that I decided to actually POST a review. Trust me, that means it's B-A-D. The other reviewers got it right - this motel needs to be completely demolished. The locks on the doors are the ancient style plastic card with a series of holes in it. Uh, clue number one. The bathroom smells like someone who hasn't bathed in about three weeks. They're moldy, musty and just all around stinky. And here's the kicker - when I was laying in the bed, I happen to look back at the headboards. My advice is, if you do stay here, DO NOT do this. Do not look, because it will frighten you. Let's just say....something is "sprayed" on there. I'll leave it at that. They don't even wipe them down. Absolutely disgusting. Never ever in my life will I stay here again.

Booked with Hotwire, which rated this a 2.5 star. No way. First room they booked us in hadn't been cleaned; the second reeked of mold and mildew. We took the third room because we didn't want to be complete jerks, but it was gross. Smelled of mildew, lamps didn't work, and bathtub was moldy. Didn't even shower there because it was so bad.
Management was nice and helpful given the circumstances, but at the end of the day they couldn't change the hotel into something it isn't. Can't recommend. We passed another, brand new La Quinta a few miles down the road. If you have to stay in a La Quinta, try that one.
