Fool me three times...My wife and daughter stayed here in July when my daughter was enrolling at TAMUCC. They hadn't been there 10 minutes when the toilet overflowed on the first...ahem...uhhhh, liquid flush. No biggee, it happens sometimes. Employees were very nice and changed their room and the only other complaint was about the road noise (front of building is on freeway access road). Fast forward to August when we're back there again moving daughter into dorm and assuming problems have been fixed at LQ. Planned to stay for 2 nights, Fri/Sat. Friday late arrival. 1. empty bag of chips, opened pill "pop-out" container and 2 used tissues in drawer between beds. Maybe someone had a cold and needed Cheetos to help sleep. 2. Next morning, wife goes to take shower and when water is turned on, instead of going down drain in tub, hair and some grey colored stuff comes bubbling out of it!! Ewww. No time for this, too much to do. Go to daughters dorm room to shower but stop by to tell manager this will not work! VERY apologetic and understanding. "Don't worry, just leave everything as is and we'll move you to another room and move all your belongings and will no charge for last night. Very sorry". Well...okay but we don't have time for this (100 things to do at the school). 3. After a long day moving daughter other things, setting up electronics, meeting with advisor, etc...we are looking forward to shower and nice dinner before turning in and leaving the next morning. Arrive at LQ and they tell us everything is moved, we're all set up. Walk into new room and IMMEDIATELY the smell of mold/mildew is overwhelming! Maybe it's just us, been a long day. Let's get showered. Just finished showering when youngest daughter says, "Dad there's something wet over here". YEH, like squishing up between your toes. The AC unit is pouring condensation into the carpet and it is wet from the window unit all the way under the bed nearest the window and almost to the other bed. Better than half the room! UNBELIEVABLE! No wonder where the smell is coming from. And here's the thing...the people just moved us into that room. They HAD to be able to feel that water when they were making up the beds. Or AT LEAST they had to smell that smell. I started to ask them since they also left one of their walkie-talkies on the TV. Needless to say, I got right on the phone and arranged another room at Holiday Inn Portland (please see that review) and told the LQ Corpus Christi South we would no longer need their services and I did not expect to be charged ANYTHING for EITHER night.
The scary thing is I bet they tidied up the room and would try to give that to someone later that night (whole town was booked, that's why we had to use Portland HI).
It just made me wonder if this is an every day affair? They HAVE to be losing money with all the comped rooms and cancellations. And the staff were so friendly and my sense of it is, inside it was like they were saying "I know, it sucks here and I wouldn't stay either. But it is my job and, of course, I can't say that".
