“Clean and Friendly”

After moving from the other Corpus Red Roof Inn on PID (do NOT stay there!) we were pleasantly surprised by the friendly staff - Keith, you rule! - and cleanliness of this location. The surroundings are a bit weird, but after we got over our compulsion to rescue every stray dog that we saw in the truck lot outside, we enjoyed the stay. Skipped the breakfast, so I can't comment on that, but the room was clean enough for the price. Comfy bed, good price, what more do you need?

“Great place to stay”

When arriving they helped us and Keith even rolled our luggage to the room and turned on the lights for us and air for us and within 10 minutes came back with 2 cups of coffee to welcome us to the area. We also received help on how to find places by Keith and Lydia. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to have a pleasant atmosphere and experience. We did not have time to enjoy some of the things they offered as we where there for a friends heart surgery.l

Room Tip: 1st floor was very quiet and easy to quickly get on our way each day.

This was the first time I had ever stayed at a Red Roof Inn. I was thoroughly impressed with all aspects of this hotel. Although this was the first time I stayed here, it won't be my last.

“Lots of Little Problems”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2011

Staff was friendly and helpful, but there were a lot of small problems that were just annoying when put together.

I drove in from the freeway service drive and missed the entrance on my immediate right. Driving back, I turned a corner and was met with a closed gate at the other drive. I was at first a little worried since I am a woman traveling alone, thinking the area might not be safe. When I looked at the situation the next morning however, I think the gate was closed to stop people from cutting through their lot.

The elevator is slower than molasses, and once it arrives, don't bother with the shut door buttons, because they do nothing. There is the usual don't use elevator in case of fire, use stairs, but there was no hint at where the stairs were, none of the doors in the area were marked and when I asked at the front desk, they said the stairs were at the far end of the hallway. <sigh>

The room has neither a fridge or microwave, which is not unusual at this class of hotel, but the ice machine only gave a few cubes and I wanted enough to fill a couple of water bottles. I tried again the next day and had the same problem. When I mentioned the problem at the front desk she said it had to be reset by unplugging it and plugging it back in. HUH? It worked fine after that, someone must have alerted housekeeping.

I noticed some white stuff on the rug between the two beds and at first I thought maybe it got there from something I brought in, but a quick check of the items that may have been responsible, showed them as clean and free of any debris. So IMO, that means housekeeping didn't vacuum, or at least not well.

I had to ask for hand towels. At the sink there were only two face cloths. That is unacceptable and there is no way that housekeeping didn't realize they only left face cloths. There were no hand towels in the bathroom, so it's not like they were just put in the wrong place.

The shower curtain was too short, and barely grazed the top of the tub, which led to a puddle on the floor by the toilet. I've never seen such a thing and regret not getting a picture of it.

I didn't go down for breakfast, so can't really speak to how good it was, but the breakfast room is VERY small, so I can only assume that it is very basic.

“It was Okay.”

Stayed 2 nights , rooms were clean, recently updated, the entire hotel was clean, except for the garbage overflowing in the large bins all around the front door. Pointed it out to the desk clerk but she did not seem to be concerned. Continental breakfast...... ares not maintained, just left messy, should of had someone to look after it, travelled around for 2 weeks and this was one of the poorest continentals that I had seen, was disappointed, not even any fruit. Located near Highway, about 20 minute drive to the beach, neighbourhood a little sketchy, wouldn't go walking but driving seemed fine. well priced for the area and time of year but plan breakfast elsewhere, even the taco bar at the gas station nearby was fresh and good for breakfast.
