“Good Stay and a Bit of an Advisory”

Got this hotel last minute on a discount website. Appears to be a newer property, and is well kept. Staff was very friendly, lobby area was nice, and everything in our room was very clean and fresh. We were a little disappointed that there was a charge for the breakfast (just under $10 pp), so we skipped that and had breakfast elsewhere with family. Most hotels in this class tend to include some sort of breakfast, but for the deal we got, we can't complain. Just an FYI if you're looking for a place that includes breakfast, this place does not. But there are numerous cheap "taquerias" all around.

The hotel is set off the main freeway, so freeway noise was not really a problem for us. Everything was very comfortable, and we were pleased with it overall.

We made use of the refrigerator and the microwave in the room, and everything was in operational order and very handy.

One caveat - our bathtub was EXTREMELY slippery. The base of the tub does have a pattern of texture for slip prevention, but it provided no traction, and I had a minor fall. I subsequently requested a rubber bathmat, and two were delivered to our room very promptly. However, even the mats were difficult to get to suction to the tub. My companions and I found that we had to be exceptionally careful taking showers all weekend because of how slick the tub was. We are younger-than-middle-aged folks with no balance problems, so I found the slippery tub issue a bit disconcerting, especially thinking of older folks or those who may have stability issues.

It was almost as if the tub had been cleaned with some sort of polishing type cleaner that left a very slick residue. At any rate, I don't know if the problem was unique to our room, or if it is a cleaning solution issue, or tub design problem. So, just a heads-up to be aware of a potential safety issue.

Other than the caveat, we were very pleased with our stay.

“Tv never worked, but got 1 night redunded. 6.50 continental breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

It was descent I guess but pretty frustrating, we complained three times about the tv and it worked a total of 5 minutes the two nights we were here. I know you don't stay in a hotel tobwatch tv but when it getting ready or just relaxing it is a necessity to us. We did go down and tell the manager our trouble when we left and they offered to refund us a night, so we would probably go back. Also don't be mislead about continental breakfast, it's 6.50 a person and my husband had cereal.

“Excellent hotel enjoyed the stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 December 2011

We traveled from Dallas to Corpus Christi with little kids, We enjoyed the stay at Hilton Garden. Rooms are clean, good service and polite staff. Food service available at the lobby and nicely located at many restaurants nearby. I will definitely recommend this place.

Room Tip: We stayed at 3rd floor, we had a nice view of the South Padre Island dr.

“Better than last time”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2011

This hotel seems to be better than the last time. I recall "Fernando" at the front desk in the not so distant past. He looked like a gang banger, covered in fake gold, and tattoos. The manager that checked me in this time did have a tattoo ( very unprofessional) but this is Corpus, one of the poorest/dumbest cities in the U.S. No recognition of being a Hilton Member, let alone Diamond.

Overall the hotel is clean, the food was good, and the bed comfortable. The city water smells, and that permeates through the room. Seriously, this area suffers from a severe stupidity problem. Good help is hard to find. This area has become an annex of the barrios of Mexico. Bring your ESL skills.

Room Tip: Stay on the West side away from the highway.

“Beautiful Hotel, Comfortable Rooms, Great Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2011

The view driving up to the hotel is really pretty. The driveway is lined with palm trees and the landscaping is well cared for. Walking into the hotel you will see a beautiful water feature in the lobby with chairs close by, it was very relaxing to sit and watch the waterfall. We were greeted by a friendly young girl who quickly checked us in and made sure we had everything we needed. The lobby and restaurant area are very clean and welcoming, lots of windows to sit and look out, something I enjoy as I do not like being closed in. The pool was well maintained. The fitness center offers several machines with a TV to enjoy while burning calories. The rooms and bathroom were spacious and clean. Beds and bedding were very comfortable. The entire hotel has a modern decor with high ceilings. I will be staying here again next time we visit my mother in law.....thank goodness for hotels!!!

Room Tip: Always ask to stay on the top floor away from the elevator, cuts down on any noise.
