“Better than last time”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2011

This hotel seems to be better than the last time. I recall "Fernando" at the front desk in the not so distant past. He looked like a gang banger, covered in fake gold, and tattoos. The manager that checked me in this time did have a tattoo ( very unprofessional) but this is Corpus, one of the poorest/dumbest cities in the U.S. No recognition of being a Hilton Member, let alone Diamond.

Overall the hotel is clean, the food was good, and the bed comfortable. The city water smells, and that permeates through the room. Seriously, this area suffers from a severe stupidity problem. Good help is hard to find. This area has become an annex of the barrios of Mexico. Bring your ESL skills.

Room Tip: Stay on the West side away from the highway.

“Beautiful Hotel, Comfortable Rooms, Great Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2011

The view driving up to the hotel is really pretty. The driveway is lined with palm trees and the landscaping is well cared for. Walking into the hotel you will see a beautiful water feature in the lobby with chairs close by, it was very relaxing to sit and watch the waterfall. We were greeted by a friendly young girl who quickly checked us in and made sure we had everything we needed. The lobby and restaurant area are very clean and welcoming, lots of windows to sit and look out, something I enjoy as I do not like being closed in. The pool was well maintained. The fitness center offers several machines with a TV to enjoy while burning calories. The rooms and bathroom were spacious and clean. Beds and bedding were very comfortable. The entire hotel has a modern decor with high ceilings. I will be staying here again next time we visit my mother in law.....thank goodness for hotels!!!

Room Tip: Always ask to stay on the top floor away from the elevator, cuts down on any noise.

“Held up to the hype”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 October 2011

After reading all of the good reviews on this place, I felt compelled to give it a shot. True to form, the HGI in Corpus was a winner! Staff was very friendly and helpful, checking me in quickly and never failing to acknowledge me when I passed the front desk. Same could be said for the housekeeping staff when I saw them. Rooms were comfortable and clean and the king bed, including the dial-controlled mattress setting for firmness, was really nice. Good room lighting and the thermostat controlled air is always appreciated. The breakfast buffet had a number of nice options and tasted above average. Even did room service one night for dinner which was decent.

Two negatives about the room were having the bathroom right there ... no entryway into it ... from the room, and my room had a slight musty/moldy odor to it.

I definitely will stay there again next time I'm in Corpus for business. It held up to the hype.

“Great place, conveniently located...”

This property seems fairly new, updated, and has friendly helpful staff. They checked us in early...and gave us a room that was clean, comfortable, and quiet. We were a bit surprised to find out that we would have to pay for the omelet we ordered with our breakfast. They do have a "free" breakfast, but it doesn't include the omelet. I do have to say, there was a price list on the wall near their kitchen, but I just thought that might be for folks who weren't staying at the Hotel. The next morning we just had a breakfast from the items that weren't extra $...and had plenty of choices, including some yummy scones and cream of wheat.
This place is another one of those that is a bit hard to get to...you have to take he Airline Exit off the freeway....if you miss that exit, just take the next right turn and go in behind the hotel for entering. Not a problem, either way.
This hotel has those duvets so many places seem to like these days. If you don't hold on to it, it will slip off the bed....and be gone for the night! I prefer a blanket, especially in the south...duvets are usually too much cover, but a sheet is too little. Probably could call the front desk and request a blanket.

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. We appreciate your remarks about the cleanliness of the rooms and friendliness of our staff. I love to take this type of reviews back to the staff so they know the impact of their hard work on our guest. Our location away from the main road provides our guest with a quiet night. Our long drive way lined up with Palm trees could be the right landmark for a first time guest to our hotel. Our central location provided many opportunities to access entertainment like the movie theater next to our property or the La Palmera Mall. We are located right in the middle of town nine miles to the beach and nine miles to the bay side. I want to let you know that the breakfast is included in some of our rates and the difference in price is only $3.00 per person. That is $3.00 for a full arrange of items from the buffet area and personalize made to order items like omelets or French toast. Next time ask for the rate that includes the full made to order breakfast exclusive only at our hotel. Thank you again for your post, I look forward to your next visit very soon.

Hello and thank you for taking the time to write a note about our services. Some one recommended calling our hotel meeting room central as we have so many business and social events in our meeting facility. As you know we are not very large however we can accommodate more than 100 people in our Lexington 1 and 2 rooms. I hope you had a chance to taste some of the food from our Chef Alex he can make a wonderful hamburger or a fancy meal. Again thank you for your support, I hope we see you back at the HGI Meeting Central of Corpus Christi Texas.
