All the hotels in Corpus Christi were very pricey, so we decided to stay at a Super 8 property on the north side of town that had reasonable rates. To say the least, this Super 8 was "rough." The first room they gave us was very hot even with the AC running. I discovered they had a floor fan in the closet. I guess you were suppose to run the fan with the poorly working AC unit, and that might cool the room down... We asked for another room and they gave us a room with "working" AC. The room was pretty basic and it was okay for a place to sleep. The interior halls of the property were very old and it looked like the hotel had been abandoned. The staff was good, but the condition of the property isn't so good. Overall, the experience was below par for a Super 8 property. This Super 8 definitely needs a remodel...

There is nothing super about Super 8. Got this through Hotwire for about $50 a night. I should have known when I saw the empty beer bottles in the parking ilot t would be bad, It was. Walls dingy, carpet dingy, bed so soft I almost needed a ladder to crawl out of it. Worst moment was when I got into shower, brown stuff oozed from beneath bathmat. Continental breakfast sign in lobby stated they serve from 6 to 10 but doors locked and lobby dark at 7 a.m. There was a sign to go to Travelodge next door with questions or to check out. I went sto Travelodge lobby to complain about brown ooze and filthy tub. I asked bored clerk if she would ask manager to go by my room and see for himself.. Arrived back at hotel about 5:30 p.m. went to now-open Super 8 desk to see if message delivered, it had not been. Clerks Shelia and Michelle indifferent, totally unhelpful.
Then I went to my room. NO ONE had been by to make it up. It was exactly how I left it at 7 that morning. Back to desk, demanded manager, indifferent girl at desk said he was not on property, made no effort, but changed her mind when I asked for her name that I would include when writing their corporate office and she rang manager. He was there within 5 minutes because I was by then really upset. To his credit, he admitted that the clerk had not given him my message from 8 hours before, apologized for breakfast error, looked at brown ooze coming from beneath beneath bathmat, unmade bed , etc. and summoned housekeeping. Bottom line--they moved me to Travelodge next door and did give me a refund.
Do not stay at this uper 8. I had original reservation at Motel 6 only a mile away but canceled it when I got Super 8 with breakfast. I have stayed at that Motel 6 before and it is less expensive, and much cleaner and nicer. Super 8 has good manager but is run-down dirty motel with surly desk clerks., filthy parking lot , and while continental breakfast is promised, it was not served. A great disappointment overall and I will not ever stay at any /Super 8 after this.
Good manager, but nothing else good about it.
