“This hotel is filthy, in disrepair, had NO hot water, and a shady lying staff.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 July 2009

We checked into this hotel around 9:30 at night after a long days drive. We just wanted a clean place to stay and a HOT shower. Guess what?? there was no hot water! When we phoned the front desk, we were told that there was a gas problem in the whole city of Corpus and it was not their responsibility. (This was a lie.) They knew they did not have hot water then we checked in and didn't tell us that. That must be why the desk clerk seemed very shady and nervous. On top of this, there were burn holes all over the bed spread, an old cigarette butt on the floor, a hole punched through the bathroom door, a filthy bath tub, and some kind of goopy stuff on the ceiling to seal a leak.
We reqested at least a partial refund the next morning and were told that "upper management " would have to contact us. Of course that did not happen. I e-mailed Days Inn and got a response telling me that someone would contact me within 7 days. Guess what? That didn't happen either, so I e-mailed again. I finally got a phone call this morning in regards to my "case." I was offered 50% refund, but i told them that 50% was not acceptable now. I would like a full refund. The young man was very rude and told me that I would have to wait yet again for another contact from a higher up. I am not very hopeful at this point, but my advice to everyone is this: STAY AWAY, VERY FAR AWAY FROM DAYS INN!!

When your wife wakes up with cockroaches on her chest and refuses to go back to sleep you know you have issues! I couldn't walk on the carpet without it squishing with water and then found two more roaches in the shower. If there's not a single other room available in Corpus I would suggest you sleep in your car rather then this hotel!

“Ghetto Hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2008

Worst Hotel that I or my family have ever stayed in. I would not recommend this place to anyone or anybody who really loves themselves or their family. The place was under renovation but there was nothing to that effect on their website, nor did they inform us of this at check-in. The room was ratty. The furniture was old and in order to curb spending the owner (Obviously having never taken wood shop) decided to stain the furniture with varnish over varnish causing the varnish to bead and of course the furniture was sticky. Their was no wireless network available. The business center where you could use the computer was always occupied by the employees. There was a sign that you could pay 25 cents to print, but that was not true. I asked the desk clerk and he said that it wasn't set up for printing. The clerks at the front desk were far from the sharpest tools in the shed. Outside of one young lady, it was hard for me to believe that they were actually employees. They had to be family which is why they were able to get away with never responding to any of our complaints. which included no iron, ironing board. no cable television. Since they we renovating my family was subjected to sucking in the fumes from the adhesive around us. They tried to move me and my brothers family to other rooms, which were much worse. They did not notify the contractor that the rooms were occupied so I had contractors walking in on my family several times during my stay. I explained to them at the front desk that I was upset with the fact that this occured but that they should be thankful that I had not traveled with my handgun as this could have turned into a terrible situation since I believed that they were breaking into our room.

As for the breakfast area. The place was filthy. We did not eat there, but spent our money eating out instead. As for the managers get together at night. That never occured. Never saw the manager. First time I heard from him was after I had filed a complaint with the main office in South Dakota, so he called me after that.

If we could have found another hotel in the area, I would have moved but due to the Xmas holiday nothing was available. Wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy.

I should have realized there would be problems when the front desk clerk continually left me to address other problems, answer the phone, book other guests, and retrieve towels for other guests. Finally booked, I went to my room to find that the room had only two working lights out of the 5 in the room. The bed was musty smelling and had a large divot in the middle causing you to roll (literally) to the middle. The dressing area sink area was stained so as to appear that a crime scene may have been worked there. The bathtub was cracked, was missing a handhold, and the water pressure was slightly above that of a kinked water sprinkler. The hot tub, one of the advertised amenities, did not work and was at about 85 degrees. The pool would have been nice if I could have gotten to it without having to wade through the 50-some teenagers camped out there. On the plus side, the restaurant had a fresh and tasty breakfast. It would have been nice to have sufficient seating. (did I mention the 50-some teenagers?)

  • Liked — Fairly close to my business destination
  • Disliked — The smell, the lack of inside lighting, and the total lack of comfort in the bed

“If you like ROACHES and BAD SERVICE”

Although my husband and I have had pleasant experiences at other Days Inn across the U.S. and the world, our experience at THIS Days Inn (2838 South Padre Island Dr) was absolutely disgusting! We should have known from our prior experience with this particular hotel location that our stay would be horrific! The last time we stayed at this Days Inn the room was so humid that all of our clothes, sheets, and towels were damp. However, back then (2006), we did not see any cockroaches! This time we hoped things would be better. However, once again we were extremely disappointed. There were roaches EVERYWHERE...on the floor, on the walls, on the curtains, in the bathroom, even on the beds! After killing about 10 in the first five minutes, we decided to purchase bug spray to deal with the infestation! When we mentioned the problem to one of the employees, he simply shrugged his shoulder...What service! Stay away from this hotel!
