Second stay at this hotel, last stay was 2 years ago. Hotel was in same condition, only complaint was the bed was a little soft for my taste. Impressed that the owner lives onsite.

Noticed that the owner had several cans of touch up paint on site (across from ice maker) and that the second exit has a gate that is closed and locked at night. The staff is friendly. The grounds are very well kept, noticed the staff cleaning the parking lot every day.

If your worried about upstairs walking noise, get a second floor room, as you can hear people walking.

The room has a single cup coffee maker, microwave and fridge (more like a freezer).

I will stay there again.

The desk clerk had trouble checking us in. Traffic noise was bad. Carpeting in the room looked very dirty and was sticky. No soundproofing; someone in an adjacent room turned on the TV at 4:00 a.m. and the sound level was disturbing. Would not recommend to anyone.

Stayed here on the weekend of my wedding, had a large block of rooms and not one person had a complaint. First, when we made our reservation we neglected to specify non-smoking. When we checked in and realized this and asked to be changed to non-smoking and the desk clerk was very helpful in getting us moved within an hour or so. Then, after the change the housekeeping team brought us several items that we had left in our first room, before we had even noticed they were missing. The location, while not super scenic, is very convenient, being that it is right on South Padre Island Drive/358, near MANY restaurants, entertainment and shopping. Everyone we met from the staff was very helpful and friendly.
Our one minor complaint was that the continental breakfast, while abundant, ended a little early, at 9:30am. But when a member of our party got to breakfast a little late, and the hotel staff had already cleaned up all the breakfast items, the attendant reopened the breakfast area and got my friend some cereal and milk . So even our one minor complaint ended up being ok.

Checked in and clerk was nice. Went to room only to find we were put in a smoking room and are non smokers. They changed our room from 235 to 125. This room had mold in the bathroom, something sticky and pink on the toilet tank lid and the biggest problem was the toilet wouldn't flush. The clerk came and tried to plunge it but was unsuccessful. Me and my husband plunged while we waited for the manager. While plunging, we noticed the water from the toilet started backing up into the bathtub. Feces was coming out of the bathtub drain. We had not used the restroom for that so it must have been from a previous guest. The manager came in and saw what was happening and moved us to yet another room (#127) two doors down. Once moved, we left to the beach for the night. When we got back, at around 10:15 pm. We showered. The water in the tub was not draining and we were standing in ankle hight water to shower. Then it happened again, the toilet in this room wasn't flushing either. I call the front desk and the manager came and plunged and also brought tools and cleaned out the drain in the bathtub. He removed a good amount of hair from the drain. One last thought, they should use fitted sheets on the mattress. When you get into the beds, the sheet becomes untucked and exposes the mattress. We were offered a 10% discount upon checkout and the manager was very nice, but this was not a good experience and we will not choose a Best Western Again.
