My family makes a pilgrimage to Corpus at least once a year. We have stayed at the OUTDATED, OVERUSED, OVERPRICED Holiday Inn Sunspree on the island, The Comfort Suites, Red Roof Inn and LaQuinta all on SPID. By far this is the better place. Our room was Clean, didn't smell mildewy (which is a common problem at the coast). There were plenty of somewhat fluffy towels and the front desk was helpful to provide extra pillows. Would definitely consider this hotel on my next trip.
