“Older Hotel, Not Clean, Bad Location. Beware!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

As we drove up to the Hotel we could already see that this was not going to be a place we would want to stay. This was another hotel at one time before Hampton bought it, why they allowed their name to be put on this place is a mystery. It needs painting, landscaping and cleaning and that is just on the outside! It is nestled right off the freeway in the middle of shopping centers and a neighborhood that I would not want to be in at night. When we arrived our room was not ready and we had to sit in the lobby for another thirty minutes before we could check in, we were there at 3pm which is the time of check in!! We were told our room was ready but they were just freshening it up. We finally got to go to our room and as the elevator door opened we were again shocked by the dirty shag carpet in the very tiny elevator. Once we opened the door to our room we were welcomed by a strong smell of urine and a musty odor, and they said they freshened up our room???? Really, with what?? The room is also very small and the decor is not modern. The toilet was not very clean and would not flush properly. There was no way we were going to stay the night here so we went back to the desk and told them we were not happy with our room at all, they asked us no questions as to what was wrong or could they do anything to make it right, nothing. They assured me my credit card would not be charged and we left. By the way, my credit card was charged and I had to call them to straighten it out. The pictures on their website are decieving and look nothing like them in person. We have stayed at many Hampton Inn's and for the most part had a good experience and enjoyed our stay so to see this particular Hampton Inn in this condition was shocking.

“Yes, It's older, but**”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 December 2011

Yes, this is an older property, but it is very clean and the rooms are modern, bright, and the staff is very friendly and wants your stay to be a good experience. Property is on Blanche Moore Drive off the east bound feeder road of state highway 358 or SPID. You are going east bound even thought the feeder is alongside South Padre Island Drive. Pool and hot tub looked to be clean thought we did not use them. Only one elevator and it is on the small side so be advised. Hallways and rooms are clean and have been updated. Breakfast is from 0600 to 1000 and the selection is very good with hot and cold foods. Free local paper if your quick enough in the AM. Overall a good value and we would stay here again while visiting relatives.

Room Tip: rooms face east and west. east side you have a view of SPID and the shopping area and neighborhood...

“Not Terrible”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2011

I stayed at this hotel for a week and found the staff to be friendly. The hot breakfast was a big plus and it always met expectations. It also was nice to have hot coffee in the morning and at night. In the evening, they also set out cookies and lemonade. There was an indoor pool. It was not huge, but there was enough space for families with children to enjoy themselves. Also, there was a hot tub by the pool. Though not my thing, it was certainly unique and may appeal to someone.

As concerns the hotel, I found it to be clean for the most part. However, my bed sheets and pillowcases simply smelled of sweat. It wasn't terribly strong but present enough to be mildly disgusting. But in truth, I really can't complain here because I gave the hotel management no opportunity to amend the situation. The same goes for the children (I assume) who were running up and down the halls at night and knocking on doors.

I also did not like the location of the hotel. It is sandwiched in a highly commercial area and a somewhat sketchy looking neighborhood. You can also read the last sentence as a general synopsis of Corpus Christi itself. I assume that the Hampton cannot help that it is located here. Nevertheless, if I had to make the decision again, I would not pick this hotel.

“Clean, but older Hampton Inn”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 July 2011

Stayed here for one night. We had a "studio suite" that was the smallest we have ever stayed in at a Hampton Inn. It was even smaller than some regular hotel rooms... I almost felt claustrophobic. We thought the price for the room was way too much for the small room that we got. The hotel is clean - it is convenient to shopping and restaurants. It is an old hotel that has been somewhat refurbished. Breakfast was ok with the pre-made cheese omelets. Front desk staff were friendly. Probably would not stay at this hotel again unless there were no other Hilton properties available.

“Clean hotel with hot delicious continental breakfast, close to shopping. Small pool for kids!”

This was one of the cleanest hotels I've stayed in. We chose it instead of the hotels at the bay front and beach because they all had negative ratings on cleanliness. Our kids have asthma and we couldn't take any risks with that. I'm glad we chose this Hampton. The beds were very comfortable. There were several breakfast choices, fruit, omlettes, and very roomy eating area. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Only 7 minutes to downtown Bayfront. My kids thoroughly enjoyed the small pool and hot tub. I was very impressed with the cheap price I got through bookings.com. Via price line. I will stay at this one again.
