“Pricey Extras, but a Good Stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

I recently stayed here for a mandantory work conference. The place was huge and amazing. Our room overlooked the Harbor, Potomac River, and you could see all the way to the Washington Monument. One of my friends had an Atrium view that featured a balcony overlooking the Atrium that was amazing. I felt that $21/day for parking and an additional mandantory $20 daily charge for internet and 2 bottles of Dasani water was a bit excessive. This is definitely a 4 star resort.

“Nice but overpriced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012 via mobile

I spent 4 nights at the Gaylord Hotel as part of a recent conference. It was a perfectly nice place to stay especially since I was not personally paying for it. The price tag of over $200 a night means that it would need to be pretty spectacular to get a much higher rating than 3.5 stars.

The room itself I felt was very nice. I was on the 15th floor and my room looked out the front of the hotel which was nice since this meant I has a water view and a view of the busy main street. The room was clean, comfortable and functional but not spectacular. I found the bed comfortable and the room had a large flat screen LCD tv with a decent number of channels. I felt the wifi worked well and I had no problem with the speed or connection like others wrote about in their reviews. The housekeeping crew did a spectacular job. One cool thing they did have was an in room safe with an electrical outlet in the safe which meant I could charge my IPad while it was locked away, pretty cool.

The hotel has a huge atrium that overlooks the water. It was sunny all but one day which made for a great open feeling and the impression it was warmer than it was (after all it was early February).

I can only comment on two of the eating options at the hotel. The sports bar had decent food, a good choice of beers and many large tv screens with any game you would want. The other place I tried was the coffee shop. It was small and despite the fact it appeared to have several workers the service was slow. They may need to examine how to do things in a different way.

The hotel is the heart of the National Harbor neighborhood. There were several good restaurants, shops and bars all within walking distance. I especially recommend trying Bobby McKeys (see my separate review). Our group ended up there 3 of our 4 nights so that tells you the entertainment value of the place.

I would have liked to be closer to the city and actually moved into the city for the night following the conference to do my sightseeing.

Overall there is nothing wrong with the Gaylord and I would have enjoyed it much more if it was $50 less a night.

“Can't wait to return!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We stayed for one night and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The hotel lobby is beautifully decorated reflecting its proximity to the Nation's Capitol. The registration staff was very helpful and efficient getting me in right away. We had an executive suite that was amazing! The pictures on line don't do it justice. We walked around the National Harbor area and enjoyed dinner at Cadillac Ranch. We sat on the balcony of our 18th floor suite and listened to the band playing below featuring an incredible vocalist. The atmosphere was perfect for the occasion. We did not get a chance to utilize any of the other amenities at the hotel but hope to return soon for a longer stay with our children.

Room Tip: Request an atrium room, it's worth the extra. You have a great view of the atrium area, Potomac...

“Wonderful hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

My mom stayed at the Gaylord for business and took my sister, Grandma, and myself. We stayed for about a week and had a great experience. The hotel is huge and includes a beautiful indoor atrium. This hotel is right by the water and is a short walk to many shops and resturants. The hotel includes a resturant that has an delicious breakfast buffet. The staff was very helpful in making reservations for tours in Washington D.C, Arlington, and Georgetown. The rooms were a decent size and were very clean. The only complaint I have is towards one of the lifeguards at the pool who was very rude.

Overall, the Gaylord exceeded my expectations and I would recommend to anybody looking to visit D.C. without staying within the city.
