This is a very nice property in the newer National Harbor area of the Capitol region. I have stayed before and it is great when there is not a convention at the Gaylord and nice when there is. Without a convention, many people skip this area because of lack of transportation options. You need a car. However - that also means you will get great service. The front desk staff and bellman always greeted me by name as I moved about. They were helpful in dinner suggestions and finding whatever I needed, whenever I needed it. I had a chocolate craving late and the desk found some and had it sent up. Marvelous. Although it looks a bit remote, it is just 2 minutes from the I95 bridge and then a few more minutes across the river to Northern Virginia and business in that area. Access to Washington DC proper is via the 295 which can back up in the morning. After 8:30 it is fine. At check in they gave me many discount coupons for local restaurants and I took advantage. There are plenty of fine dinning options but not so many mid range. The parking is a bit odd. They do not have their own garage so you either valet ( easiest) or you self park across the street and use a credit card for overnight parking. It cannot be combined onto your hotel bill. The rooms are beautiful, well appointed and have great views of the Potomac river. Platinum friendly. I will be back - especially in the spring when the area springs to life in the early evening with outdoor concerts and people about.
Room Tip: Check the occupancy at the Gaylord first
