“Should be called the "JUNKIE INN"”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2011

Burns on the carpet and on sinks. TV remote didnt work...we were handed 3 others to try. The air conditioning in that room did not work properly. The pool was closed for maintenance. This place has certainly gone downhill from when it was a "jewel" back in the 80's. Do yourselves a favor folks, stay in Grants Pass or drive on down to Crescent City. WHAT A DUMP! Tweakers galore in the parking lot. UGH!

“RESTAURANT HAS THE COOK FROM HELL”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 July 2011

The Hostess must have apologized at least 25 times.. along with comping our meals... But I chose to tip our hostess/waitress because it was not her fault.
BILL The Cook purposely made us wait almost 90 minutes before he sent our incorrect order last after 2 other tables worth of guests that arrived and ordered after us got their purposely messed up orders.
If I were the management I'd fire this guy so hard he'd walk funny !!!

“Built in the early 1960s ... and looks every bit of it”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 June 2010

If you want to truly "step back in time" to an easier era of American lodging, look no further than the Junction Inn. That's because this place was built about 50 years ago and has not undergone any apparent renovations during that span.

First, the good news about this motel. The room was quite large and the bed was remarkably comfortable, and I enjoyed two very pleasant nights of sleep – though the bedspread was suspect.

Also, the shower offered strong and consistent pressure; any adjustments of the knob didn't jeopardize the temperature through fluctuations so common with older motels.

Unfortunately, that's all of the good news.

Upon walking in the door the first time, I noticed a deep iron burn on the carpet, which itself looks like it dates back to the Kennedy administration – stains and excessive wear are the order of the day.

The bathroom has harvest gold vinyl flooring and a toilet that appears to be part of the original construction. It was noisy, often refused to shut off despite my continual handle-jiggling, and had a very unambitious flush. Sometimes it took numerous flushes to clear away the goods, if you know what I mean. Also, the seat looked badly beaten, as did the edge of the bathtub.

The motel offers Internet access, but I couldn't log on despite getting a signal, and the office staff didn't have a clue how I might overcome this.

The air conditioner doesn't work very easily, as there is "a trick" to turning it on, as the front desk clerk/handyman sheepishly admitted. Once it's on, it is noisy.

The room's furnishings were at least 40 years old – possibly older.

Outside, the spa house was barricaded with a long piece of wood and a "NO TRESPASSING" sign, which I suppose meant that it was not available for use. The facility itself looked like something out of a Grimm's fairy tale, with its octagonal construction and pink paint.

The swimming pool was empty with weeds growing around the edge. I suppose that if it's not open by now (June), the management has no intention of opening it at all this summer (and perhaps never again).

Actually, the office staff and the adjacent restaurant employees were jolly and pleasant.

This is the only show in town, so you don't have any choices for lodging. If you're not willing to accept a severely subpar motel, better head down to Grants Pass 30 miles away.

“Mediocre would be a compliment to this place.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2008

If you like to find yourself surrounded by rundown furnishings, worn, faded carpets, doors with holes in them, and an air coditioner/ heater that is so loud it rivals a departing jet from the airport, then the Junction Inn is right for you.
The lovely cinderblock room smelled old and musty, the floor must have been mopped with dirty mop water, as there were mop streaks in it, and the bathtub had visible dirt marks on it. The worn and tattered, mis-hung drapes, covered the badly in need of repair sliding glass door.
We were told that the heated pool open until 10:00 PM, It was pad-locked, and appeared to have been for quite some time, and while the temperature was in the mid 60's the"heated pool" didn't let off any steam.
Impressive were the dirty plastic flowers inhabiting the planter holes in front of each room.
And all of this for only $75.00 a night.
Well on the good side, the TV worked fine, and the bed linens seemed clean.
After seeing the room, and the motel, we decided to avoid the restaurant.

“Old but nice”

We stayed in this hotel on our way back from a trip to the coast. The hotel is old but is kept very clean. The office staff was very friendly and helpful. The furniture in the room was dated but comfortable. The restaurant had very good food and excellant service. We would stay at this place again if traveling through the area.

  • Liked — The friendly office staff
  • Disliked — I can't think of a thing
