“Correct and good price for a center city”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2010

They call that "super 8" but it's , in fact a RODEWAY INN hotel, SUPER CENTER.

Yes the price ( $63 tax incl) is interesting for an hotel very well situed in center of salt lake city. By feet, you can access every where in the center ( temple, main street... ).
Not a luxuous but correct fourniture, clean and all the amenities free ( wifi, parking, breakfast, fitness...).
If wifi doen't work correctly, you can find another free one in scanning .
Otther hotels near have the same price ( motel6, other unknown brand ) so it's the firs one we found after trying and econologe too much expensive in a outside city area.
Nothing special about this Rodeway.

“Great place great people”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 February 2010

My husband goes to the Huntsman Cancer Center for treatments and my friend suggested this Super 8. When we arrived the front desk was so friendly and noticed that my husband was disabled and changed our room so that it would make his stay a little easier. The room was clean the bed comfortable and the breakfast was great. We will be back for his next treatment. The location was perfect and I was even able to check my e-mails.

“Worst super 8 by far, this place is a ghetto”

We were unfortunate not to get a chance to read some reviews of this poor excuse of a motel before we stayed there. Frequently stay in super 8 and the standard overall of the super 8 is average and about right for the cost. However, this one is way below average. The motel is delapidated and outdated, not a major concern as we have stayed in several older motels. However this one is terrible, most of the equipment is broken or in a state of disrepair. The TV did not work, the toilet did not work, we ended up fixing it ourself. It may seem minor but one of the pillows on the bed was lumpy, essentially about ten years old and completely unusuable. Complained to management, women on desk said she would look into it, 20 minutes later nothing. Go downstairs to complain, she had appeared to have forgotten. Spoke to manager and apparently there were no other pillows free in the entire motel! A motel without spare pillows, rediculous, apparently they were on order. I said well that doesn't help us what are you going to do about it, nothing is the answer. Avoid at all costs, the hotel is falling down, the management although friendly do not appear to do anything about the problems and prey on the fact they are a super 8 located in downtown salt lake city. For the most part super 8's are average/good motels based on price/comfort ratio, however this motel is one of the worst if not the worst motel I have ever stayed in (out of about 30).

“Paper thin walls”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2009

Well, this is a budget motel and so expectations shouldn't be high. A clean bed, a clean bathroom, a well-lit parking lot and maybe a quick bite to eat for breakfast. This Super 8 has all these things. Plus WiFi, a Starbucks across the road, new door locks and decent-sized TVs in the rooms. Not bad.

But, inside the hotel is noisy. One door slams and the whole corridor shakes (doors, windows and other fittings all rattle in-sync). Someone takes a shower and everyone hears the plumbing. And, should other guests be participating in nighttime intimacy you will be hearing their rocking and rolling.

The location isn't bad. It is a 10-15 minute walk to the convention center, through a safe part of town. The temple is just a little further walk. It is easy to find from the interstate (as is the case of most of downtown Salt Lake City). And, there are great restaurants and brew pubs within a 5-10 minute walk.

“This place is a pit...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2009

Stayed here while attending a funeral. The decor (if you can call it that) was ancient. The sheets were very old and scratchy. The sink drained slowly. No closet or wardrobe; only a rack on the wall. Many patched holes in the wall. You could hear neighbors on both sides quite easily. Evidence of covered up mold/mildew. Scent of mold/mildew as well. Bed very uncomfortable. TV system antiquated. Room too small for a queen room. Bathroom tiny, and sink was OUTSIDE in the bedroom! Only two pillows in the room. Front desk reluctantly gave us two more very old, and lumpy pillows. Very poor parking setup.
Previously stayed at the Super 8 in Midvale, UT, and it was very nice, new and comfortable. VERY disappointed in the downtown Super 8. Stay elsewhere!
