“Unusually Poor Front Desk Service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

Typical business late night arrival after a full day of traveling ..... I check in with no issues until I get to my room. I am at the far end of the hotel and neither of my keys work! I call the front desk on my cell phone and they send a maintenance man who arrives in about 10 minutes. He checks my keys, no good, and then tries his, also no good. He tells me it may be a while to fix this and suggests getting another room. (about 20 minutes since check-in) He calls the front desk on his phone (open mike) and the front desk tells him to send me back to the front desk to get new keys. The maintenance man shook his head. Another 20 minutes before I am in my new room. Very poor handling of my situation! It was late and there were no other customer anywhere that they had to attend to. He upgraded my room which did not matter as all I wanted was to go to bed.

Room Tip: Insist that they help you instead of the other way around!

“best airport hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

i've recently reviewed sky harbor suites in the slc airport area and i just wanted to make sure i'd put in a good review for this hotel. i should have booked this hotel for both nights that we stayed in slc but i didn't so that was my bad.

room was clean, amenities were great. it was ok overall. definitely better than sky harbor for the price we paid. will stay again if i was in the slc airport area. and i think they offer a free shuttle to/from the airport.

“If it wasn’t for the concierge lounge, I would never stay here.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

I’ve been traveling to Salt Lake City a lot in the last year. I am a loyal Hilton Diamond member and I have to say at the government rate. This means I split my time between the Hilton Salt Lake City Airport (6 stays in the last year), the Hilton Salt Lake City Center (12 stays in the last year), Homewood Suites by Hilton Salt Lake City-Downtown (4 stays in the last year) and the Hampton Inn & Suites Salt Lake City Airport (1 stay in the last year) based on availability at the government rate. My stays in Salt Lake vary from five to twenty-seven nights in length. This review is for the Salt Lake City Airport Hilton.

If it wasn’t for the concierge lounge on the third floor of the Hilton Salt Lake City Airport, I would never stay here. This lounge, with free food and drink on week days, is a rare visage of days gone by. The young gentleman who runs the concierge lounge hustles his butt off to make sure everyone feels pampered. This hotel is long overdue for a remodel. I am writing this review from a room at this hotel. The bottom of the bathroom door frame is rusted out, the carpet is stained and the bed is the old generation Hilton bed – comfortable, but not nearly as nice as the new Hilton beds in the downtown Hilton. The electric door locks are also a generation behind and the keys rarely work on the first try. The first floor smells of cigarette smoke and chlorine (from the in door pool). There are no real restaurants in the industrial park where this hotel is located. The Hotel restaurant does serve a couple of good entrees, the double cut pork chop is very good and the Penne Jambalaya is decent. Avoid the steaks, a short drive to downtown Salt Lake City will provide you with a variety of very good steakhouses including Spencer’s in the downtown Hilton and Ruth Chris. The bartenders are a mixed bag – a talker, a stalker and a genius who makes a very good old fashion – makes for a very interesting evening. And last, I had to complain to the front desk for multiple stays and multiple weeks to get them to fix the dryer so I’m am not happy with managements response to guest feedback. One good thing about an older hotel is the shower nozzles – they are not the ultra low flow so if a good hot shower is your driving requirement, this may be the place for you. All in all, if it wasn’t for the concierge lounge on the third floor of the Hilton Salt Lake City Airport and the shower nozzles, I would not choose to stay here.

Dear Guest, thank you for taking the time to give us a review and for letting us know areas that we can approve upon. Thank you for mentioning how GREAT of job Tommy does in our Executive Lounge, and for appreciating our complementary hor d'oeuvres and beverage service for our executive guests. Our beds, as well as the Hilton Salt Lake City Center, are the Hilton standard Hilton Serenity Bed Collection® and we are pleased you find them comfortable. Thank you for taking the time to mention some of the entrees you enjoy at the Grill 114 and the shower pressure in your room.
We can completely understand how the issues you described would cause your experience to be less then positive, and will be forwarding your review on to our department heads so that we can address these issues. “Typical Airport Hotel, Atypical Hilton”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

I stayed here a few years ago and swore I'd never stay here again. Unfortunately, it was a busy weekend in the area and I had no choice. They apparently had a remodel, which didn't quite take.

The room I stayed in was clean and decently apportioned. As a loyal Hilton Diamond member I found it was no better or worse than most others. The big problem at this property? Noise. If you want a quiet night's sleep, sleep in your car. Part of the problem is the slamming of doors, one of my biggest hotel pet-peeves. I can't control what other guests do, but it appears to be hotel policy that the housekeepers slam the doors as many times as possible within a short period of time. Maybe it's a contest. They should know better.

One can literally hear every noise from the room upstairs, the rooms on either side, the massive gap between the floor and the door, the highway noise, and the anituquated air system. To make the room comfortable, because of the inadequate air system, I had to open the patio door, but the highway noise was unbearable. I was unable to move because they were sold out. I usually use the air system to create white-noise to drown out the rest of the noise, but because it was so poor, I had no choice but to suck it up.

The front desk staff, in my experience, were friendly and helpful as were the bar servers. The food was what I expected from an airport hotel; average. Filled the belly though.

I'm afraid this property is fighting a losing battle. Brand new hotels are going up just down the street. While I am a loyal Hilton customer, this property will definitely be on my "absolute last resort" list.

Room Tip: Sorry. Hilton, but my advice to others is to stay somewhere else.

Dear Guest, thank you for taking the time to give us a review and for letting us know areas that we can approve upon. Our deepest apologizes for your less then positive stay at our property. Thank you for mentioning how our team members were friendly and helpful. As you stated our hotel was at maximum capacity this past weekend and we apologize that we were unable to move you rooms to help with the noise problem. Slamming doors is never appropriate and we will address this issue with our Executive Housekeeper so that we can work to dissolve this issue and prevent further incidents like this from occurring. “Better than last time”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012 via mobile

Stayed here for 2 nights in January. Internet has been upgraded and was great. I stayed in the regular hotel, not the high rise. Room was clean and comfortable. Ordered room service for breakfast one morning and it was good and fast. Overall the best stay I have had at this hotel. My only complaint is that the sliding glass door to the outside was filthy on the outside.
