“It Could Be Much Better”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

The rating is for the effort and it's generous. While most of the staff was friendly, the service ranges from expert to professional novice. The inconsistencies are amazing, more characteristic of a misfit former glory rather than a bona fide convention hotel. The potential is definitely there and could easily be achieved with a little tweaking and some hearty training. It could be much better.

“Pleasant Suprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

I was booked here by Priceline and didn't know what to expect. We were booked on the ground floor of a courtyard with sliding glass doors that led to a pool with a pool house and hot tub. The grounds were pretty but the sliding door did raise some security concerns. The room was modern and looked like it had been redone not too long ago. Much better looking than those ugly, thin multicolored comforters that most hotels throw on your bed so that was a plus. The room was airy and smelled clean. It was quiet, the temp was good, no complaints at all. Parking was on-site and free. The only complaint was that they closed up the hot tub early that night so it wasn't available to us when we arrived. We had some drinks in the bar and the bartender was very nice and recommended several drinks that were great.

Loved it, much nicer stay than the Hilton.

“Very nice staff-good location- ok rooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Stayed at this hotel January 27-28, 2012 for two nights. Staff was extremely nice and helpful. The hotel is quite large so expect a good bit of walking to get to your room if you are booked onto the "back" of the property. The rooms are large and recently refurished. My room had an unacceptably loud heating unit that sounded like a freight train. Could not sleep with that thing on- and the room was freezing with it off. Bathroom was large and spacious- again the fan was very loud in that room as well. Water pressure was great and the shower was nice- though the tub was old style and very deep.

I ate at the hotel bar and while one does not expect a gourmet meal- this food was exceptionally bad. Nachos were completely unedible. Seriously. The sandwich that I ordered was mediocre but at least I could eat half of it. The staff was very nice- yet not very dedicated to great service- could have sold another beer or two had they checked on me more than once. And with only two other patrons in the entire place...

But if I sound overly negative I apologize. As a Starwood property it was decent and the location was excellent. Personally I would try another hotel when I return to SLC- but I wouldn't suggest to anyone to absolutely avoid this hotel. Just expect an average experience and you will be ok...

Room Tip: Try to book a room close to the lobby to save a long walk. Parking is decent all over the hotel so...

“Dont Judge a Book By It's Cover--Great Hotel”

When I arrived last week at the airport I was going to jump into a Taxi, but thought I would save some money and take a shared Van service. The van company actually told me there was a Sheraton Van free of charge--nice surprise! (which I had known). When I arrived, the hotel, as noted, was old from the outside but the inside and renovations are terrific. The staff at the front desk are really amazing. They helped get me a room on a sold out week-althuogh I do have status
They suggest restaurant--they get a perk for suggesting restaurants, but that is OK. The Starbucks in the lobby is very convenient. The hotel bar staff is very helpful and it is a fun environment. The rooms are redone and very comfortable. They really have done a nice job at Sheraton.
The only issue--I mentioned I am a platinum member-- is the Club Level needs a lot of work. The room is beautiful , but the food did not meet standards and the staff person was very very rude. She did not even know the food (could be pork could be chicken) and I have allergic reactions. Saw her in the morning again and she told me they did not open till 6:30am and closed the door on me..she just needs some training
Overall, great place to stay

Staff are great, and the location is excellent. Only possible ding is that the Fitness Center is a bit sparse, and when it gets cold in Salt Lake City you really want to work out indoors instead of going outside.

Room Tip: When you get there, ask to be in the tower section. There is a low-rise section of the hotel and th...
