“Good price, GREAT location, clean...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2011

I usually stay at another hotel but was booked into this one by the folks I was working with this week. The location was great (near campus, medical center, train line) and the hotel was clean and the staff were friendly. It's undergoing an upgrade and it's time since it's starting to show its age but I'd stay there again. Was on the 3rd floor to lessen noise but would definitely ask for a room further away from the trains next time. It might not bother most people but I woke up many times as the train brakes squeaked. No blaring train horns but enough to wake this very light sleeper......

Room Tip: Top floor and away from the train station.

“Not Too Happy”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 November 2011

After I checked in, I turned the corner to walk to the elevator and had to step over several cords and large blaring fans. I thought , "I'm so glad to be on the 2nd floor". When the elevator doors opened, again I am met with cords and blaring fans all the way to my room. I dropped off my things and left to go back to the hospital hoping that this situation would be cleaned up upon my return. I came back at 8:45 p.m. Still cords and fans. Went to my room after turning off the two fans outside my room. Didn't sleep a wink all night. Checked out the next day. No one ever said a word about situation, nor an apology, or a discount for my inconvenience :-(

I apologize for the cords and fans in the halls during your stay with us. We did have a broken water pipe on the 2nd floor. We solicited a clean up company to assist in getting the hotel back to normal as soon as possible.

The repairs have been completed. Please feel free to contact me directly if you are planning a trip back to the hospital. I will make sure we make up for the inconvenience.

Sincerely,

Perry Hacker

“Fun Weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

Enjoyed my weekend stay very much. Will stay here again. Excellent, friendly staff, especially the night crew!! Breakfast was great; the little gift shop next to the front desk came in very handy.

Room Tip: 1st floor room was close to everything.

“Good but not great!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2011

I stayed here for a work conference. While the rooms were good, the breakfast was good they are nothing spectacular. There are lots of renovations going on which didnt help. workers are outside my window by 7am, the halls are a disaster with them being repainted, and there is a disaster clean up company here on the 1st floor, not sure what thats about....
this was my first trip to SLC and staying here, there is nothing to do. you cant walk anywhere cause there is no where to go......i would have preferred a room downtown where you can see something....the one plus...BEAUTIFUL view of SLC and the valley from the LRT bridge.

Thank you for you candid review. Unfortunately during you stay we did have a water pipe break which affected about 23 of our rooms and two hallways. The clean up company tried to do their best to keep the intrusion to a minimum but it was really unavoidable. Our primary concern was ensuring the health and safety of our guests and keeping any water damage contained.

We are also in the process finishing up our hotel expansion. When complete, on Jan 6th, we will have 51 new rooms, an expanded lobby, new front desk and gift shop as well as a state of the art fitness room and a 350 seat ballroom. Regardless, workers should not have been outside your window so early. Construction is not scheduled to start until 8:30.

I do apologize for the inconvenience. I hope you can stay in SLC if you visit again. The downtown area has gone through an amazing redesign and a wonderful place to explore.

If you happen to have business near the University of Utah again, please give us another try. You will love our expanded facility.

Feel free to contact me directly with any other comments or concerns.

“Lost In Salt Lake”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

Hello All,

This was a work trip so it is what it is, right? The layoff of this place was very pleasant and warm. The breakfast was very cheap and thrown together, I would suggest the fruit or cereal the bread for the toast was hard as hick. The toasters would work off and on (please replace them). The only reason I did not give this a very good is due to the (INTERNET) it was free but locked down, not a lot of options if you are a avid streamer. I would go back....... Iguess.
