This place is fantastic. We had no reservations and were accommodated as soon as we walked in. They even let us go online in the lobby to pull up the slightly cheaper online rate to book that way, which we appreciated. The hotel lobby and first floor are visually appealing, very clean and well-maintained. The gal at the front desk was so friendly and helpful to us throughout our entire visit (two nights). The room was clean and spacious with a separate living area and kitchen, as this is an all suite hotel. Fantastic living space and nice layout.

Yes, there is construction going on outside, but it is Salt Lake City after all and there is development in progress, so no big deal. There are certain sides of the hotel where you do not face as much of it. Even though our room did face it (on the back) it was completely minimal if anything and had little to no impact at all on our stay.

The staff is great. Dallas took such good care of us down at the bar, making sure we were well attended to the whole time! They also have a kitchen and can make food for you, which they did and it was delicious. All the food, drinks, etc. were great. It's such a relaxed, comfortable environment and everyone was so friendly and fun we actually just spent the evening at the hotel bar one of the two nights we stayed. Everyone was so nice! The pool and hot tub are nice too. I liked everything about the Hyatt Place and we'll definitely be staying there again next time we're in SLC.

“Hyatt Place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

This hotel is in a very good location and great value. We has to leave early next morning so we were not able to take advantage of the very good breakfast. The only downside was the reception staff.

“Highly Recommend Hyatt Place SLC”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

I stayed at the Hyatt Place in downtown Salt Lake City, UT. I've traveled significantly for work and found the Hyatt Place to be an incredible hotel, it is a new contemporary hotel and the room furnishings were inviting and very comfortable. The room layout was similar to a studio with a wall separating the bedroom and a really large couch and ottoman which was great to stretch out on to watch a movie. I was there four days and had a great view from my room. The staff had a basket of fruit at the front desk which was nice to grab an apple on my way out. It is located within walking distance to the Gateway Mall which has some great restaurants and shops. It is close Temple Square and other downtown areas.

Jason, the Front Desk Manager was very helpful and went out of his way to help me find a couple of nice restaurants. I would highly recommend the Hyatt Place for business or family, greatly because of the staff, room furnishings and location.

Room Tip: My understanding is that all rooms are suites. There is small table with chairs, a very large couch...

“Perfect Business Hotel - great location - ok food options”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

This Hyatt Place is perfect for business travelers. We stayed several nights and were very pleased with the place.

The greeting staff was friendly and provided an unexpectedly pleasant tour of the property upon our arrival (see staff concerns below). The room was clean and roomy. The free wireless operated flawlessly. Bed was comfortable. Shower amazing.

The only concerns:
1) The noise level through the adjoining room. We heard the conversation clearly that our neighbor was having with his buddy. Thankfully they quieted down before midnight.
2) Don't think of the "Guest Kitchen" as a replacement for a restaurant or room service. The food we ordered throughout the stay (breakfast entree, a sandwich and pizzas) was just ok . None of the orders were horrible but none were delicious either. It was odd to order at the front desk and then carry the food up to the room. On the other hand, the prices weren't gouging so it probably was worth what we paid for.
3) The staff was amazing the first night but after that the rest were pretty banal. This could be a new property and the staff is just not familiar with the routine but the morning team just didn't seem to get it together - or seem to be able to smile. No one was rude but no one was especially terrific (except the first night).

If you keep your expectations tiny, you will be thrilled with this property. It's clean, comfortable and priced pretty well for a downtown hotel.

Room Tip: Any room without an adjoining room next to it would probably be quieter.

“Location, Location.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

My family and I stay here in December (27-1 Jan 1) the best thing about this hotel its the Location, a walking distance to all downtown attractions ( the gateway mall temple square, state capitol, etc) Good size rooms, spacious and comfortable, bad maid service, average staff not what we expected for a Hyatt brand.
The breakfast its just OK, but just carbohydrates, and almost everyday the tables and floor of the breakfast area was dirty, again not what we expected for a Hyatt
The next time Radisson would be our choice.
