“Nice Bed & Breakfast for a Little Getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2009

For our Anniversary, I wanted to take my wife someplace close (we have small kids!) but that would also be relaxing and fun. I decided to take her on a "staycation" to downtown Salt Lake City, and stay at the Anniversary Inn. We ended up booking the room a little last minute, which almost meant that we didn't get a room at either hotel!
The location is great - everything seems close. The room was elegant and classy (we didn't get one of the more... themed rooms..) although a little small. Some of the decor was not really my style, but that's ok.
The large jetted tub was really nice, and the bed was super comfortable. We were served breakfast in the morning, which we ate out on our little enclosed patio. It was a good time.

Sadly, we had a mixed experience on our visit. First, my wife had bought a gift certificate as a surprise for me last year. When we first tried to make reservations months ago, all we got was an answering machine. Even though I left both a phone and email messages, nobody ever contacted us. Fast forward to last week, when I dusted off the certificate and tried again, I got right through to someone and they were able to book us a room. We were able to book an early check-in at no extra cost which was helpful. Upon arrival, everything was ready and very nice...the problem occurred later that night. We were all ready in bed when I heard someone on the floor above turn on the jetted tub ( I presume). I got up to use the bathroom and found a puddle of water in the middle of the bathroom floor and looked up to see water dripping from the light fixture. Closer inspection showed water dripping through one of the screw holes in the base mounted to the ceiling...it was rusty and corroded and had obviously been doing this for some time. We called the front desk and we were moved to another room, then found out the bed was too small so we got moved again. By 1am we were finally back in a room on a different floor after packing up our stuff and moving a couple of time. My hats off to the young lady who was trying to help us out for keeping a smile on her face. With so many choices for B&B's, I would think you would want to make it easier for people to use your services and have a top-notch experience. Also, there was no wifi in the room or internet access offered to us. For us, other than being tired the next day, it turned out okay...but just okay. We might try their other facility on fifth south, but I don't think we would go to the south temple site again or recommend it to our friends.

“Fun spot in an awesome neighborhood”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2008

This unique hotel is located in a very beautiful neighborhood surrounded by neat gothic churches, tree-lined avenues and only walking distance from downtown and Temple Square.

We stayed in three different rooms: Neptune's Cove is great for one night; The Enchanted Forest is whimsical and fun; The Capitol Retreat is my favorite with a big closet and bathroom (which is behind a bookcase!)

Breakfast delivered to our door at a time we specified was awesome -- we ate in bed every morning. The staff was accomodating and friendly and the rooms were clean and well-kept.

I would recommend this place to anyone wanting a bit of novelty while they explore the best parts of Salt Lake City.

“Mixed reviews”

First when one of the couples in our party arrived at the Inn, there was no one there. They had rented a car which needed to be returned and wanted to just drop off their luggage. They ended up having to ask the car rental place to guard their luggage while they walked around for two hours before the rest of us arrived. We also called the Inn during this time to see what the problem was and no answer. All of this left us a little anxious as to whether we would even have a place to spend the night. When we finally got to check in, the desk clerk had a little difficulty understanding that we were wanting to put two rooms on one credit card. She also made an issue out of requiring photo ID for the charge....do people really make reservations in other peoples names in other states for rooms and then charge them?? To get ice, you had to call the front desk, which many times no one answered. Then when we went to get ice, we were told that the area was staff only. Well, if you can't get staff, what are you supposed to do???

For three mornings, we had the same breakfast. Granted, the ham and cheese croissant was quite delicious...a little variety would not have hurt anything. We felt that they specialized in wedding night one night stays. So it wasn't necessary to change the menu!
