Not as advertised. Smelly room, loud fixtures and small beds. Wifi did not work. It's location is convenient but we can not recommend this place.
We were there on New Years eve 2011 on our route from Montana to California. After reading reviews we decided that this place would be okay for one night sleep. We arrived late and tired otherwise we would have looked for another hotel right off the bat.

Staff not friendly or helpful, breakfast was stale bagels and DanishYes that were limited to number you could take. We used points from the reward system so room was free and that was paying to much. Alarm clock in room broke. Along with the room not what the pictures show on the web site. Just not a place to stay

Stayed here as part of a Contiki tour. I hadn't stayed at a Howard Johnson before but now i will consider them more if they are viewed in the same standard as this one.

The rooms were quite lovely, really nice. The pool was nice to swim in as well. It is a great location to pretty much everything. We walked to the mall and had dinner near there, and also walked to the temple areas too so you don't need a car here, you are right in the thick of it all which is good. Breakfast was also very nice.

I would definitely stay here again if i visit Salt Lake City again, such a beautiful city!

I stayed here last year when I was in Salt Lake City to do some genealogy research at the Family History Library--which is easily within walking distance of this hotel. My room was a little outdated, but it was clean and comfortable. There is a small continental breakfast offered in the morning, but it was very limited. But there is a mall with some good restaurants just several blocks down the street. (Fortunately, the person at the desk gave me directions to this because I don't think I would've found it otherwise. I found a good Thai restaurant there.) The hotel is especially convenient for sight-seeing downtown and using the Family History Library. For it's 'hotel class,' location, and pricing, I give it 4 stars!
