“Outstanding courtesy and helpfulness”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2010

We spent one day on the Olympic peninsula with 2 nights at Ocean Crest B&B. Do not stay here if you are expecting a frilly Victorian mansion. This is like staying in your mom's or aunt's house. We had a hectic schedule, arriving late on Thursday night and leaving early on Saturday morning. Barbara & Jim were very accomodating - staying up till 11 to let us in when we got delayed driving in from SeaTac due to road construction. We had a simple but sumptuous breakfast of scrambled eggs, blueberry pancakes, sausage, and fruit. Barbara also helped us plan our day touring the Olympic peninsula, and very thoguhtfully packed the mostly uneaten remainder of our son's breakfast. (He didn't east it later - he's not a very good eater - but mom and dad were very happy finishing it off.

The next morning we had to leave very early, but our morning tea was at the door by 6 and Barbara even got us a continental style breakfast (muffins, Danish) to get us going in the morning. It might just be because we were on vacation, but the quality of the ingredients was superb - the strawberries in particular were amongst the best I have ever had.

The room we stayed in was small with a bath across the hall but that is fine - this is not a huge establishment. The house is 1980s style suburban comfortable and the bathroom was spotless. The views from the common room in the front of the house overlook the ocean (Juan de Fuca Strait) and you can see across to Victoria. The view from upstairs at breakfast was even nicer.

All in all, very practical and enjoyable.

“Great Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2010

Barbara and Jim were wonderful, warm, and welcoming hosts. Breakfast was delicious and the tray of coffee outside the bedroom door each morning was a very nice touch. They really went out of their way to make us feel comfortable.

The location is very convenient to Olympic National Park. You can get to Hurricane Ridge in 30min and to Elwha Valley in 15 min. The house has nice water views and we could see Vancouver island. The common room with internet access and quaint porch were very nice.

Thank you Barbara and Jim for a very nice stay.

“Very Nice and Clean; Accommodating Hostess Allowed you to Feel at Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2009

The bedroom and the bathroom were both very nice and clean. There was a common room that we could also use. Breakfast was good and Barbara even had Cheerios with honey, which really pleased my 3 year old. She also served breakfast on our schedule, so the day of our early morning ferry, she served us breakfast very early. The location was excellent for taking an early morning ferry over to Victoria or for eating dinner at one of the restaurants in town. She also helped us plan our day trips by giving us advice on driving time, nice beaches to visit, and good lunch spots.

“Ocean Crest B&B was great: quiet, very clean great hosts”

We were looking for a quiet place to stay, possibly with
a water view . This is difficult to do in Port Angeles as most hotels, motels are off the main road, not near the water.
We found this B&B through the visitor's center & called them directly.
Jack & Barbara are the homeowners. They are very friendly and knowledgable about the area. Most people stay there to catch the ferry to Victoria, BC.
They have 2 or 3 rooms in the lower level. We stayed in the master bedroom which was very nice. It had a queen bed, private bath & TV. Breakfast was great: fruit, juice, coffee, bacon or ham , pancakes and eggs to order.
I would recommend a stay here.

  • Liked — very clean & quiet
  • Disliked — one bedroom was next to common TV room

“Very Nice”

This is a good place to stay when visiting Olympic National Park's northern side. The rooms are very clean, as is the entire house. We stayed in the Pine Room which has a huge bed. The bathroom was across the hall, but this shouldn't deter you as it is a small place, so there shouldn't be a ton of people cruising around. The downstairs (where the rooms are) has a common area with a computer (and internet access) and a TV/DVD. If you're lucky, one of the other guests will rent a DVD and you can watch it with them. Breakfast wasn't too bad. We had eggs and bacon and sausage, etc. The sausage was some sort of Jimmy Dean type of product, so it wasn't as good as it could have been, but not bad. The breakfast area has a nice view to the north, so you can watch ships coming in and out between Port Angeles and Vancouver Island. The location isn't too bad either. It is easy to get to, but it isn't with in walking distance to the downtown areas.
