We had booked at Sol Duc springs, only to find out they were "overbooked". They put us up at Elwah B&B, and we couldnt be happier. The place is very quiet and tranquil. My fiancee and I very much enjoyed drinking a bottle of wine in the swing on the property while talking and enjoying the solitude. Margaret and Bob were very pleasant and the breakfast was very good, most of it was homemade! I think they have done some updating since the the prior reviews were written. The decor was fine (not modern) and comfortable. The linens and sheets were all of good quality. This is a great spot if you seek some peace and quiet. Also, we did not experience christian music at breakfast. I would definitely recommend and stay again!

Our First choice was to Sol DUC mineral springs "resort" We first contacted Aramark via the Sol Duc website. We made reservations for 2 nights to celebrate our 21st wedding anniversary.
The "resort" (funny choice of verbs). called us the DAY BEFORE and bumped us. "(overbooked)" BUT they found us other accomodations down the road a ways. ( Elwah Ranch B & B). My husband called me at work with the bad news. What were we to do? I felt we had no options but cancel the trip or go to the B & B. I also had scheduled a surprise for my husband with a massage @ the "resort" upon our arrival.... so that was cancelled as well.

They did offer us free use of the mineral pools, but our alternate accomadations were 40 miles away. We made the journey into Sol Duc on Saturday afternoon.... WHAT A ZOO! The place looked like a cheap motel. No place to park. Mineral pools were beyond capacity, then a bus pulled in! No thanks! The web site shows almost empty pools, not even close to what we saw.
The Elwah Ranch B& B was very secluded and serene. We first felt like the Sol Duc people did us a favor... BUT.... the Elwah Ranch B& B needs major updating. Couch in the log cabin was very grimmy, linens were faded like they had never been replaced in 30 years. There was actually a Better Homes & Gardens magazine dated 1980!!! NO joke!!! The location is very secluded and beautiful.The hosts were sweet, but that is about the only good I could say about the place. The breakfast was ok. I think they are close to retirement, and have no intention of spending any of the $165.00 per night on updates.

Too bad.

The view overlooking the mountains were spectacular, and the owners Bob and Margaret were as sweet as they come. The owners built a beautiful log home where they live above. While enjoying their wonderful homemade breakfast in their eating area you get a breathtaking view of the mountains. Our room below was very quaint and clean. The furnishings are a little outdated but clean, yes their are knick knacks, but this is someones home. Yes she had Christian music in the background, I was not offended by it at all, I too am Christian. It is their ranch so you will see their horses. While having coffee on the deck you will see deer nearby. It is a lovely area. I would stay there again.

What a lovely establishment in a stunning location! My husband and I spent three nights at the Elwha B&B and truly enjoyed the experience. The proprieters are warm and friendly, with excellent information about the various parks in Olympic National Park. The room was comfortable, clean and cozy. Yes, there were a few knick knacks here and there, but I felt as if I were staying at a favorite aunt's house. There were even freshly baked cookies waiting for us the first night! The view was amazing and the smell of the pine trees in the air was pure heaven. We would definitely like to return to the Elwha B&B some day, and hope to do so soon. Also, for a great dinner, a restaurant named "Joy's" in Port Angeles is not to be missed.
