“Not up to Marriott Residence Inn standards”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2011

The lack of a covered area in front to park during registration was a minor disappointment on a rainy night but nothing compared to the musty, moldy smell that hit you once you entered the lobby. The staff were putting down towels along the baseboards of the men's room which might have indicated an acute problem, but the moldy smell suggests that they've had a long-term problem with moisture. Probably not a good place for someone with allergies or respiratory problems to stay.

“Spacious”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 June 2010

The two bedroom suite was awesome. We had a full kitchen, living room, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It was pretty comfortable. There was plenty of room for the family.

Breakfast was very good. There was a large variety of hot and cold foods. There was plenty of seating. Flat panel TVs in the breakfast area.

I was disappointed in the pool area. First we had to wait in line at the front desk for towels. The pool was very cold and the spa barely warm with hardly no pressure from the jets.

It was raining so we did not get to use the outdoor amenities. There was a nice courtyard with seating and a firepit. There were also tennis courts.

The location was on an outer road near the highway but it was not congested or noisy. There were many stores and eating places just down the road.

“Avoid This one!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 April 2010

Full of teenagers, noisy, running the halls all night. The "night auditor, clerk, and security" person was one incredibly young kid who said "I've been too busy to do anything about it" & we fill up our hotel alot"

We have stayed here several times before wih no problems, but there are obviously no controls any more.

Poorly managed and cutting corners. NOT Marriott quality!

“Great hotel for solo travelers -- not so great for a family....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2010

I would have loved this hotel had I been travelling alone on business. They give you a two-room suite with televisions in each room. There is full, fairly well-stocked kitchen with a full-size refrigerator and a dish washer. You also get a good-sized desk and a pull-out couch. There’s a free breakfast, a nice indoor swimming pool and a decent little gym. It would have been a great place to book if you’re in Macon for a week of business (or longer).

Unfortunately, I was travelling with my wife and two small children. We booked this room through Priceline. So, it wasn’t until after I booked it that I discovered they didn’t have any rooms with two double beds. So, we were forced to use the very uncomfortable pull-out couch. A conventional room would have suited us much better.

Still, I don’t want to take anything away from this hotel. It’s was great value and the staff was extremely nice. I just would look elsewhere if you’re traveling with a family of four.

“Great Price and Service - Average Rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2010

We traveled to Macon in January, 2010. We wanted a hotel that would allow us to explore the city on our way to other locations in Georgia. We are frequent guests at Marriott hotels and found an excellent price of around $70/night (weekend) on the Marriott site for this hotel.

LOCATION:

The hotel is located about 7 miles from historic (downtown) Macon. It is located immediately off of the highway and does have some highway noise on the units that face that direction. We found the location to have easy on/off access to major arterial roads and the highway. However, if you are looking for a location that allows for walking to local restaurants or Macon itself this location does not afford that. The complex does provide ample free parking.

ROOM:

We stayed in a queen one bedroom unit. The rooms were a bit smaller than other Residence Inns we have stayed in and had a bit of a musty smell. It appears as though they are having some water leakage issues at the hotel that they appear to be addressing. Overall the room was comfortable and they have updated the kitchens recently. The bathroom and bedroom (including TVs) did not appear as updated.

OVERALL:

Overall it is hard to beat the price for this type of unit. The free breakfast and service (we received outstanding service from the front desk staff) made up for some of the other minor issues with the unit and location. I would think that if you can find this unit for a similar low price it would be worth the other issues.
