“False Advertisement Shame on Howard Johnston Hotel !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

my husband and i came down on last weekend of the altanta speedway, for the race.
we made our reservation 2 weeks ahead, on 03/16/07-03/19/07.

when we arrived we went to the room (122)and (144). after

seeing (122)room, my husband and i couldn't believe that the room was so very nasty, the bed spread was so old and faded out, curtain smell really bad and the room had a really mild-dew smell like the entrance to the room. i told the nasty rude staff up- front that the room was nasty she gave me a bad attitude and called the manager, we told him that his howard johnston has false adverisement. the rooms was nothing like the hotel showed on the internet. he didn't explained . we asked for our credit card to be credit back and we left and went down the street to (riverside inn)..stayed there our 4 days.. we were also given another room(144), from howard johnston and it had a chair inside the room , it was so filthy and busted-up, and the bottom was coming out from beneath it. the comforter was old like the other one and very dirty looking i have a puppy and when he's in my room he has a comforter in his little bed. i would lie on my puppy comforter before i would lay on howard johnston's. THAT'S HOW FILTHY IT WAS!!!.).( YOU CAN REALLY TELL A FILTHY HOTEL WHEN THE HALLS SMELL MILDEW AND THE RUGS LOOK VERY OLD AND GROUND IN DIRTY. THATS THE (HOWARD JOHNSTON WE DIDN'T STAY IN. STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(FASLE ADVERTISEMENT THAT SHOULD BE A LAW.

“Old Property aged furnishings”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2007

This property is very old. They are doing some remodeling. Furnishings and linens showing significant age. New owner trying to clean up the property (remodeling, getting rid of problem guests, etc). The price was right ($40 per night) and the location was good (I-75 @ Pierce Ave Exit on Riverside Drive).

“Don't bother”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2006

Stayed here in Summer of 05. Rates seemed decent and after passing by on the way north, the place looked need and well-kept. Decided to give it a shot. The staff was great and the lobby is pleasant enough. Your typical HOJO of yesteryear. This style of motel is definitely a fast-dying breed. The parking was good and parking lot side appearance was just fine. The interior corridor to our room was clean but hot. Corridor is non-air conditioned. The room at first glance seemed find but upon closer inspection is severly long in the tooth. Went to open the patio door to the pool and the patio chairs were broken down and cigarette butts littered the lawn. The pool is old and poorly maintained. 1/2 this motel appears to be rented as long-term housing for the unemployed. Kind of a dirty crowd that seems less than desirable. Slept fine and woke to a better than average continental breakfast w/ biscuits and home-made gravy in what used to be the motel's bar. Upon conversation with a waitress at Applebees next door we were told that the motel had changed hands and the new owners weren't putting dime one into it. It's sad to see something that could be decent left to rot. I would not stay here again.

“Travel a little further....”

Stayed one night on our way home from vacation. This is the I-75 exit #167 location (Riverside Drive) in Macon Georgia.

Had a nice meal at the Shogun Japanese Restaurant, just down the road, but the hotel was questionable.
Our non-smoking room had cigarette burns on the bedspread, the hair dryer didn't work, the upholstery on the chair was NASTY and there were spiders in the bathroom. (little ones, but they were there!!)

I guess for $39.99 a night you shouldn't expect too much. But, we were spoiled. On the way TO FLorida, we found a GREAT hotel for the very same price (the Paramount Plaza in Gainesville Florida)....i suppose we were hoping to land something just as lovely on the trip back home. But, we didn't.

I wouldn't stay here again unless there were no other choice....
