My wife and I stayed here for two nights in October 2011. We chose to stay here due to the TA ratings. On arrival we were pleasantly surprised and very happy with the Inn, it's location and the room. The puplic rooms are also beatufully furnished. We received a genuinely gracious and warm welcome from Joanna - She really is a credit to this Inn - Staff with this experience and humility are really worth their weight in Gold.
Unfortunately we did not have a good nights sleep on the first night and we felt compelled to request a change of room. The room we were allocated initially was the William Bartram room which overlooked the back garden - the room also directly overlooked the kitchen's extractor fan / hood. Due to the fact that no windows have been upgraded at the Inn, the noise was unbearable - you could even smell what was being cooked in the kitchen ! For the price we were quoted per night - this was not acceptable. Luckily, we were moved for the second night and slept comfortably.
I refused to pay for the first night which, to their credit, the Inn accepted as the best solution all round without argument.
Our stay at the Inn was therefore spoiled by the experience of the first night - maybe our expectations were set too high. On closer inspection and now with a critical eye, you could see that the rooms at the hotel are now in need of maintenance. There are references everywhere to the awards won by the Inn during 1998 - which is 13 years ago - I'll let you make your own conclusions.
