We stayed in a tree hut near the office. The facility was very nice and clean and felt luxurious after spending the previous 2 nights in a very funky place. Although this "retreat" is off the main road, it's not exactly in what you would think of as a rainforest. There was some kind of noisy construction going on in the afternoon, and in the evening, whenever people or vehicles would go by our hut, there was that gravelly sound. We opened the windows at night but there weren't any screens so we had some mosquitoes. Although our stay wasn't perfect, we liked the tree hut and thought the staff was professional and helpful. It seemed a little pricey but Franz Josef is a touristy town and the price of accommodations reflects that.

A great place ! We booked the Tree house, which we recommanded. It's a real appartment with all you need and more. We really enjoyed our short stay, wish we could stay more longer. We didn't have dinner at the restaurant, the room was so nice, we made our own meal. So we can tell about the food and bar.

I was there for two days, was welcomed by rec keys of another's room. Cleanliness pathetic. Looked better On pictures than in reality. Would have preferred a different venue. Breakfast was nice though.

This hotel's restaurant, Monsoon, has a VERY obscene drinks menu, so make sure your kids don't get a look at it. Frankly, I was personally offended too - the kind of drink names they have are unnecessary, sexist and sophomoric, and have no place at a respectable establishment - but I was especially glad my kids didn't pick it up. When I told the waitress that the menu should not be given to a table with kids, she said, "well, I just meant it for you and your husband". But she hadn't told us that, and drinks menus usually have nonalcoholic drinks on them too, so we often hand it to our kids. I don't want to write the names, but suffice it to say they involved sexual acts.
I would have given this place four stars, but this issue really offended me. The rooms were great (although one had a strong bug spray smell). The hot tubs seemed to always be full of young adults - again, not great for families. Just on principle, I wouldn't stay there again, even without my kids.
