A well thought out design in this B&B. Each room has a great view of the glacier and the mountains behind. We found the other visitors a pleasure to meet, and even continued on to the next town with one to continue sharing a great time.

Kaz was a warm and gracious host. She gave us great tips for local activities as well as ideas for future towns and adventures to check out.

We stayed here for one night on our honeymoon in February 2011. We loved the rustic charm of the lodge with the log fire and views of the glacier (if the weather is good) and also the comforts of our room. We were upgraded to one of the grand suites in the main house as it was our honeymoon, and it certainly did not disappoint. HUGE bed, HUGE bathroom and separate lounge.

As we were only stopping for one night driving down the coast, we did not sample much of what the area apparently has to offer. We went to the thermal spa, had dinner at the Blue Ice cafe and drove up to the glacier the next day, all of which were good experiences. However, we found Franz Josef a slightly depressing place. To be fair, the weather did not help as it was chucking it down with rain in the evening, so this may have tainted our experience slightly. However, Westwood Lodge made up for the location.

Excellent accommodation in a log cabin. Very spacious and comfortable. Great place to relax. Beautiful communal gardens and lounge with a fireplace and a view of the glacier. Not really walking distance from town.

When we arrived at Westwood Lodge we were amazed by its rugged beauty, a gorgeous log built lodge that nestled beautifully with the natural splendor of the glacier nearby. The main lounge was huge, with a gigantic fireplace on one end and a separate billiards room. Our room at the lodge followed the same theme as the lounge, gigantic, with a huge bathroom with walk in shower. The room was nicely appointed and decorated in a lodge and wood décor that accented the natural beauty outside. Our pleasant and helpful host, Kaz Gilmore, directed us to a splendid restaurant the evening we arrived and prepared a made-to-order, hot gourmet breakfast the next morning. Kaz even shared her well behaved puppy with us, allowing us to feel even more at home. The only negative to our stay here was that we only had one night to enjoy this comfortable paradise.
