“The place we've been waiting for”

Located ideal to the Franz Josef glacier this family friendly farmstay offers all you and your kids can ask for. Milk as fresh as it gets, "help yourself with the eggs", goats, ducks, dogs and pigs and hosts that always be there for a help. Great value, simple but tidy place, all self contained. We loved it and the kids asked for a longer stay.

“Personal touch and peaceful”

We discovered Perivale Farm Cottage on TripAdvisor after a fruitless search for other accommodation in Franz Josef and were extremely pleased that we did! The cottage was spacious, well furnished and very well equipped (books, toys, etc.). Graham welcomed us and was very helpful. Our kids enjoyed watching the milking and fresh milk and free-range eggs were also a welcome bonus! After staying in holiday parks it was a really refreshing change to stay in somewhere more homely. Great location - just off the main road, but hardly any noise as not much traffic. Only downside was having to keep the flies out in the evening, but plenty of well-placed fly screens made that easy enough.

“Stay in Franz Josef instead”

The cottage is ok but the farm is a pigsty. Graham greeted us but no sign of Dora - ever. And if you try to contact them to ask a question - no one answers the phone, and it is not the kind of place where you feel comfortable walking over to their house and knocking on the door. The wording of some of the directions in the information folder is a bit rude - like " if you can't get the fire started drive into Franz Josef and buy some fire lighters". Who is going to do that at 7pm at night? The cottage was ok but we stayed at an excellent farm stay in Dunedin (silver peaks lodge) and this was nothing compared to that. It really looks horrible from the outside but is ok on the inside - when we drove up we couldn't belive that was it. Stay in Franz Josef township instead.

“Beautiful outdoors in comfort”

A lovely family who really made us feel welcome. The cottage was in great condition and the nighly views of the stars was amazing. Make sure you try the fresh eggs and milk - so much better than anything you'll find in the stores.

The cottage itself was well equiped - plenty of toys for small children etc. Overall a great place to stay when visiting the glacier region. We certainly plan on staying again when visit ing NZ. We didn't take any pictures of the cottage but did see this great rainbow - see attachment.

“Fabulous Location”

We stayed at the cottage mid April and wished we could have stayed longer than a night! The cottage is clean and comfy and has everything you would need whether you stayed at the height of the summer or mid winter. The views are amazing from the kitchen window and it is just so peaceful. Graham, Dora and the children came and introduced themselves which was a lovely touch and then showed us around the farm which was great. The fresh eggs and milk were a lovely bonus, if planning to stay here stay for more than a night so you can really enjoy the farm, great views and peace and quiet.
