The Rainforest is fine.

It's not brand new and it's not flash, the bed isn't huge, the chairs aren't especially comfortable and you her the basics of a motel and nothing more.

It is superbly located a short (like 2 minute) walk from where everything in Fox happens however, and we saw dozens of people schlep past on their way to their more distant accommodation while we enjoyed a cold one in our room.

My main criticism is that it's about as bad as it gets for the 'motel zoo' effect as each room has a full glass wall facing the car park. At least there are net curtains.

The Rainforest Motel was very adequate, and a good value. Very close to the main street in Fox Glacier, and the room had all of the conveniences you would look for. In our unit, the bed was showing its age (you kind of rolled to the middle), but the electric bedwarmer was great on a cooler evening. No problems, but not a really phenomenal place either.

Lovely place to stay and excellent bathroom facilities for older people, clean and spacious. Good value

During our whirlwind tour of New Zealand (7 nights, 7 different motels) we needed a place to stay in Fox Glacier so that we could do a glacier walk in the morning. Many of the options looked pretty similar ahead of time so we went with the Rainforest Motel. The rates were the best we had in all of New Zealand so we couldn't really complain about that. We arrived just around 8 PM so I think we were a little on the late side for the hosts. He was pretty friendly and gave us a recommendation for dinner, but just wasn't as enthusiastic as some of the other hosts we had in our travels. The room was pretty nice with a small kitchen type area and a nice sitting area. Electric blanket was a nice amenity for a chilly September night. There were a few spiders and bugs in the room when we got there, but no big deal. I wouldn't necessarily tell anyone to stay away from this location, but I wouldn't highly recommend it either. It was just average.
