We would unqualifiedly recommend The Saltings to anyone and everyone. We have stayed at The Saltings on four occasions and each time Maureen and Terry have been incredibly welcoming, friendly and helpful. The estate itself is located on the side of a hill in Sandspit that offers spectacular views of not only Maureen and Terry's vineyard but the harbor and the mountains of Matakana. The Bordeaux Suite (in which we stayed each time) is extremely comfortable, tastefully decorated, very well-appointed, and clean as can be. It has a full kitchen and adjacent dining area, a large comfortable living room, a king-size bed, a very long and deep bath tub, and outside decks from which you can simply sit and enjoy the view or read. The estate is just a five-minute drive from both Warkworth and Matakana and truly is a quiet and restful oasis that you will thoroughly enjoy. You'd be foolish not to stay here.

It's a great spot with both perfect vineyard views and an ideal place for a romantic get-away. A perfect place to enjoy walking and exploring, wine tasting or just relaxing. Terry and Maureen are wonderful hosts and make you feel both welcome and special. It's the little extra touches that make it so memorable. The rooms and beds are individually designed with a touch of luxury and invite the most discerning visitor. Would thoroughly recommend this to those who enjoy privacy and romance.

We have had an annual weekend break here four times now, and if anything it just gets better. It is set in a peaceful garden with great views across the vineyard to the harbour. The rooms are tastefully decorated and Maureen is simply a wonderful host (her breakfasts are to die for). It is conveniently located for exploring the Matakana Wine Country and coast. We heartily recommend this B and B.

My wife & I stayed in the Bordeaux suite (self catering) for our 1st Wedding Anniversary recently and couldn't have been happier with our choice of accommodation! The Saltings Estate Vineyard is located 5-10 minutes drive from both Warkworth and Matakana making it an ideal place to base yourself to explore the area.

The Bordeaux suite is at the far end of the vineyard to the B&B, and offers a tranquil haven for those like us, who wanted some privacy in beautiful surroundings.

The suite itself is spacious, beautifully decorated and has everything you could need for a home away from home. It has a fully equipped kitchen with modern appliances and kitchen wear. The bathroom has a high powered shower and a large freestanding bath. The bedroom has a comfortable king size bed with views over the vineyard and Sandspit, and both the bedroom and the lounge open up onto a large deck with a table and chairs. Perfect for drinking a bottle of fantastic Syrah direct from the vineyard below! There is even a wood burning fire and it is made up ready to light, with extra logs provided for those cold nights!

Maureen and Terry were perfect hosts, giving us space and privacy, yet were always available - especially when we required another bottle of wine from their great vineyard! Highly recommended.
