The most stunning thing about The Saltings is the view. Straight out the door of the apartment is a beautiful vineyard stretching out towards the sea - what could be more peaceful and relaxing?

We had a lovely stay, a real break away from the busyness of it all. Terry and Maureen were warm, friendly hosts without being intrusive. Terry made great suggestions for dinner reservations.

The apartment had everything we could possibly need and was spotlessly clean. The wine was lovely, such a nice way to start our little holiday, and Maureen's sourdough bread was divine.

There is so much to do in the local area, we were torn between getting out to the vineyards, cafes, markets, beaches, and relaxing at the apartment soaking up that view and wandering around the grape vines.

We hope to be back!

We stayed for 10 days during the Rugby World Cup, and found The Saltings Estate to be the perfect balance after our busy weekends watching rugby in Auckland. Terry and Maureen were welcoming and helpful, providing advice on local attractions and good places to eat, without being intrusive. Maureen bakes a fantastic loaf, and had stocked our fridge for our first mornings breakfast. The complimentory bottle of Syrah from their vineyard was delicious, thank you Terry ! The accommodation was finished to a high standard, and was particularly spacious for a one bedroomed appartment. The bedlinens were high quality and the bathroom products made us feel we were at a spa. A beautiful, secluded hideaway just minutes from the shops of Matakana or the peace of Kauwau Island.

The accomodation was clean, private, and welcoming. We arrived in the dark and so got to experience the amazing views for the first time with the sun coming up- and it was stunning!
The setting is tranquil, the rooms well appointed and very comfortable.

We stayed in the Bordeaux Apartment which is very spacious, has great decks, views over the vines to the water- fantastic!

I went away for the weekend to get away from my family! Simple really! I wanted to stay in a lovely environment that would give me time to rid myself of some stress and to relax! The Saltings is just beautiful... very French looking... in the middle of a beautiful vineyard just near the sea. What an idyllic environment. There is lots to do nearby in Matakana village with its art and farmers market, music and entertainment and delicious places to eat. Maureen and Terry were very welcoming and respectful of my request for peace. They have their own wine for sale and this was a very tasty treat with some lovely cheese bought from the Farmers Market. The Merlot Suite was geared up with a fridge, freezer and every convenience and the bed was very comfortable. I had such a lovely time at the Alegria Beauty Farm for the most sensational Claudia and all in all was a 10 out of 10 stay for me. I enjoyed it so much I have booked my husband and I in for a romantic getaway soon.
