We stayed 3 nights in this hotel. We had a corner room with a balcony on the top floor with a terrific view over the bay and the icebergs. Nice clean room. The location is very good, close to the harbor and shops. The quality of the restaurant was average but the waiter very helpful. There is also a Thai restaurant which we did not try. The hotel staff recommended not to use the bar in the basement because this bar is only used by heavily smoking and drinking locals. The management could be more professional. A guy with long hair and badly dressed at the Front desk who does not bother to stand up when guests check-out and does not focus on the guest either , should be replaced. The lady at the Front desk was very helpful with booking tours. We did not like the fact that we had to pay an extra 5% commission when paying by credit card.

Great location, overlooking the bay (with a better view than the Hotel Artic), close to the town centre and the Kangerlua (whereas the Hotel Artic is on the opposite side of town to the Kangerlua). Not all rooms face on to the bay (the non-smoking ones don’t). We were on the 2nd floor in a renovated room that was well-appointed. In general, however, the hotel is below par and a bit shabby. This isn’t helped by the liberal and typical for Greenland policy of smoking being allowed everywhere. The staff were generally helpful but the owners bordered on rude. The food was poor and the restaurant was not reliably available (which makes the 15-min walk to the Hotel Artic well worth it – where the food is excellent). So – as a place to stay, it did the job and didn’t detract from the wonderful experience of being in Ilulissat. The big plus of the hotel is that it is 15-20 mins closer walking to the Kangerlua than the Hotel Artic, but the downside is that it isn’t the Hotel Artic.

An excellent hotel in an outstanding location overlooking the iceberg filled coast of Greenland. The hotel has a dated but charming interior that has a true homey feel about it. There are many Greenlandic art works in the lobby and the halls are filled with paintings and prints of local scenery. The rooms on the top floor have doors leading to a common balcony which allows unobstructed views of the bay and the northern lights which were on display one of the nights we were there. The restaurant has a great selection of both continental and Greenlandic food and the portions are huge. Prices are reasonable. The hotel is centrally located and within walking distance of most things in town. I would not hesitate to stay again.
