Any hotel in Greenland is blessed with exceptional location and views and the Hvide Falk is no exception.
The hotel's Thai restaurant is not what you expect to find nor wish to find when visiting Greenland.
Staff was helpful and friendly.

The hotel itself is old and showing it's wear, but it was clean. The location is amazing. That's where all the positives end. The front desk staff and the restaurant staff were rude and not accomodating at all. It didn't seem like they liked their jobs or had some other issues going on. We did eat in the restaurant one night andafter being seated, comfortable and starting to drink the water, ordered a few drinks, we were moved from that table because "there's a party of 5 who will be sitting here". We were then placed in the back of the already back dining room. Not long after, a party of 2 were seated in the exact chairs that we had been sitting in. And, the service was horrible. After an hour of attempting to get coffee and desert, we had to go into the front dining room and request that our check be brought to us so that we could leave. It was a horrible experience. The front desk staff seemed to be bothered by questions and often didnt even attempt to address the concerns or difficulties that we were bringing to their attention. We had dinner a the Hotel Artic a few nights later and and this was an excellent experience. During the day, one of the employees child was running up and down the lobby and hallway for what seemed to be an hour, just very unacceptable. The cleaning staff didnt smile. Come to think of it, no one seemed to smile. We did have coffee and desert in the bar one night because we didnt want to have to experience the horrible service in the restaurant. We had just come in from the cafe down the street. The bartender was somewhat better than the other staff, but the service took a very long time. The bar is in the basement which didnt seem to have been renovated at all...just old and stinky of smoke. I probably wont be back to Greenland any time soon, but if I were to go, this would not be the place that I would spend my hard earned money at. I wouldnt even blink on my way by.

I stayed at the hotel Hvide Falk during July 2010 and found it to be a decent and comfortable property. Good location with all rooms having a view of either the Icefjord or the Bay studded with icebergs. The hotel looks a bit tired on the outside, however the rooms have recently been refurbished. The restaurant is reasonable - and the quaint bar downstairs is the place to get a decent meal for a decent price. Remember - the food is made in the same kitchen as the more pricey restaurant. I wonder however whether for the price (only a little less than the 4 star hotel up the road) it is competitive for 3 stars. A real plus is that its one of the closest hotels to the icefjord and away from howling sled dogs!

We had a hard time finding accomodation and thought we'd ended up in some dodgy apartment but to our surprise it was a brand new self contained apartment with a balcony that turned into a sun trap after about 6pm. Everything was new and clean and the room was spacious.It was such a joy to sit on the balcony in the afternoon and watch the icebergs and fog and boats - all with a mojito in hand. Expensive but all the accomodation is. In this case it was worth it. Only downside is that it's situation below the hotel proper and walking down the unfinished gravel with your bags is a hassle. Also, a LOT of light comes into the room. Proper block out blinds would much improve things. Bring an eye mask!
