Very good hotel in a beautiful city. Large rooms, very nice pool that can be a bit cool in January. Very good breakfast, nice dining room. The hotel is used by the large tour groups. staff are helpful and friendly. Request an interior room away from the noisy bar across the street

PROS
* Good Location
* English speaking staff (Michel was excellent)
* Great rooms with 4 star facilities (eg. hairdyer, power shower, mini-bar and plenty of hot water). We stayed in a junior suite, but I have also stayed in the hotel in a standard room in the past.
* Mini-bar very reasonably priced
* Attentive and efficient maintenance staff

CONS
* The jacuzzi didn't work. The pool was freezing cold and therefore unusable and the sauna was chargeable. We chose the hotel based on these facilities, so it was a disappointment once we'd checked in to find that none of them were actually usable.
* Restaurant. This is meant to be one the best in Cienfuegos ... the very thought saddens me. The food is bland, boring and very expensive. The breakfast is pitiful.
* The hotel tried to charge us 50% more to accommodate a third person in a junior suite. We managed to negotiate this down to 30% - but be warned. Even if you book via the hotels website there is no option to select a room for more than 2 people, so I'd suggest contacting the hotel before making a booking to negotiate the rate in advance. We lost an hour of our short time in Cienfuegos trying to sort this matter out (we were only there for one day).
* Noise from the Club. It woke us all up and went on until very late ... probably 3am. The noise was so bad it was like we were actually in club ourselves. It's a shame as it ruined the experience of being in the great room that we had.

Good value central hotel, all mod cons . . . . Loved our stay there. We had a Red pair of new Mac Jeans from Europe stolen from our room. Staff are un helpful when theft is mentioned. Seems tour guides all know there is theft there but don't ward you.

My husband and I stayed here as part of our "People to people" trip to Cuba. Based on other reviews, my expectations were high. Some were met, and others were not.
Our room, #103 was located just above a very busy and noisy street. We worried about the nighttime noise, but found that the noise really lessened at night. Earplugs definitely helped!
The room was small with a very efficient air conditioner. Unfortunately, the provided blankets were filthy. Check your blankets when you first arrive, and ask for clean ones if necessary.
On the "plus" side were (1) an excellent location for walking to the square and to the shore, and (2) a very good breakfast.
