Becancour itself is tiny with not a great deal to do, and unfortunately the hotel doesn't provide a great deal of information (at reception or in the room) on exploring the town or area. However, the Manoir has a very nice garden in which to take a pre-dinner aperitif, so if all you want to do is 'chill', then this is a good venue.
Our room - above the dining area - was a reasonable size, with a linen closet and a huge bathroom and an adequate shower. They kindly provide bathrobes and an ironing board. Our room was furnished in black with purple and white walls and white curtains (which unfortunately did not keep out the morning sun). The bed was comfy, there was free internet access in the room, ipod dock and refreshments. Diner is served in a nicely decorated dining room, which has a very modern feel. The waiting staff were not particularly efficient or knowledgeable and kept running between us and the kitchen offering us alternative dishes, this let the dining experience down, which is a shame when the quality of food is co;sidered. The gazpacho we were served was to die for! And the pasta sauce very good (on extremely al dente pasta). But by British/London standards, dining here is not cheap.
The most memorable part of our stay has to be the breakfast - from the quality of the cold buffet (which included the same cheeses that we were served on a very expensive dinner cheese course - so good quality) to the amazing, freshly cooked french toast, all served in an attractive conservatory. Jasmine was charming, and you have to admire a hotelier who looks after their staff so well that they add a tip on your bill for breakfast service!
Good for a one night recharge on a long drive between Quebec and Les Laurentides
