“Cozy port of call.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2010

The Rosedale Manor is cozy and welcoming beginning immediately upon reception with a cup of tea and freshly baked pastries! The inn is a heritage home centrally located directly on the inner harbor of this very historic and picturesque community. The rooms are fresh, clean and roomy, and breakfast is a real treat as the innkeeper is also a pastry chef! The innkeepers are very well informed on all local sites and activities.

“Good stay, excellent breakfast”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2010

Placentia is a small city with one restaurant (while we wait for Phil's café and bakery to open) and few things to do. The scenery is very pretty, like most of NFLD, and it makes for good walks in a romantic setting. But there's nothing to do.
The B&B has good-size rooms on two floors, tea and coffee available all the time, and a nifty breakfast system that allows guests to select the night before what they'll have the following morning. The molasses bread is nothing short of delicious, and well wort the stay by itself. Breakfast was good and abundant.

“Wonderful hospitality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 June 2010

We arrived tired from a day of sightseeing and within just minutes of entering, Linda welcomed us as if we were old friends and had hot tea and chocolate cookies with a chocolate partridgeberry ganache that Philip had baked. The cookies were wonderful. We ordered our breakfast for the next morning and received a recommendation for dinner at the 3 Sisters Pub down the street. The B&B is absolutely charming. We stayed in the Rose Room. It has 2 windows that look to the front garden as well as across the street to the water and a side window. It has a clawfoot tub in the room equipped with a shower. The room was very clean, warm, inviting, and quiet. For breakfast the next morning I had Red River Porridge with Philip's special garnishments and my husband had Philip's homemade granola with vanilla yogurt. We had Philip's special molasses bread with raisins and wheat bread and fruit. Everything was absolutely wonderful. We want to go back and stay several days at the Rosedale Manor sometime in the future. It was our favorite of the 4 B&B's we stayed in during our trip to Newfoundland and the others were more expensive.

“Totally Awesome Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 June 2010

The hosts made us feel welcome from the moment we contacted them for reservations. Our flight was late so we arrived after 2am and we were able to get to our room with no problem. The room was wonderful, food was excellent and they went out of their way to make sure we had a good experience even though the weather didn't cooperate much. We would highly recommend this B & B!!

“Outstanding B&B with friendly hosts and fantastic food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 March 2010

Stayed here on the way to St. John's after getting off the ferry from Nova Scotia. The location of Rosedale Manor was very convenient after the long ferry ride, and the hosts made us feel right at home from the moment we set foot in the B&B, even though it was well after 11 pm. The rooms are charming, and you would be hard pressed to find a better B&B breakfast than the one Phillip cooks up after taking orders the night before. Rosedale was also the perfect base for exploring local historic sites before continuing on to St. John's. This was by far the best place we stayed on a three-week tour of Atlantic Canada and New England. Hope to be able to stay here again someday!
