My finacee and I are planning to get married on the steps of a historic plantation home in Natchez, Mississippi. In order to meet with all of the wedding coordinators (florist, caterer, cakes, etc.) we needed to take a weekend trip to set up all of the details. We looked into different hotels but needed two rooms (one for my mom and I and one for him).
As we searched the internet, we stumbled upon the Sunset Rise Cottage (previously known as Baby Deer Cottage). WOW!!!!!! Did we find a true gem! Tom (the owner) was so accommodating and wonderful to work with. We rented the cottage for the weekend and had more room than we could ask for. In addition to two bedrooms and two bathrooms, we had a kitchen, washer/dryer, living room, beautiful front porch, and a private balcony on the back of the property overlooking the Mississippi river. Breakfast was provided and we enjoyed it as we watched the sun rise out on the front porch (overlooking the gorgeous cemetery). My finacee took a leisurely walk through the cemetary and was impressed with all of the ornate and interesting statues and landscaping.
Sunrise Cottage was the perfect place to relax and undwind after a busy day of wedding planning. Instead of being cooped up in a cramped hotel room, we were very pleased to have so much room to relax and discuss our findings. We were also impressed with the historic details that were put into the remodling of this home.
If you are looking for a place to relax and enjoy yourself while in Natchez, I would DEFINATELY suggest this cottage. We are going back in November to finalize our wedding plans and will be staying here again. In addition, we are suggesting this place to our family members as a wonderful place to stay during the weekend of the wedding.
Tom also has a one-bedroom cottage on the same property called Sunset View Cottage (See the website - [--]. Upon arriving at Sunrise Cottage, he was kind enough to show us this other cottage. It is absolutely georgous! My finacee and I were so impressed with it that we are considering staying there our first night of the honeymoon!
Both homes are absolutely lovely and I would highly recommend them if you are planning a trip to Natchez.
