The grounds are spectacular; the area is peaceful; the history is all around you.

The owner, Ruth Ellen Calhoun, is the most delightful hostess. Not only does she share the fascinating history of Elgin and the region, but she also offer the best advice for site-seeing, food, etc. She and Miss Lizzie are absolutely fantastic!

The location is perfect if you want to be near everything, but far enough away to be quiet, with gorgeous grounds. The flowers are wonderful!

When it comes to a historic, romantic, restful bed-and-breakfast experience, it's a great place!

My husband I visited Elgin Plantation this weekend and were in awe of it's beauty. Our host, Mrs. Ruth Ellen Calhoun was a delight and a most gracious southern lady. Lizzie was also wonderful and prepared the BEST southern style breakfast!!!
I rose early each morning to walk around the grounds and I could close my eyes and almost hear the sounds of horses hooves, carriage wheels, children playing and southen gentlemen and ladies talking as I walked along. It was taking a trip back in time. If you visit Natchez, be sure and stay at Elgin. Also, be sure and eat at The Carriage House. It is on the grounds of Stanton Hall in the city of Natchez and is a wonderful place to dine. The service is great and the food was some of the best we have ever had.

We had the best weekend at Elgin Plantation. Mrs. Calhoun is wonderful hostess. She gave wonderful tips for sightseeing in Natchez. We had a full southern breakfast prepared by Lizzie. Lizzie was a delight to talk with. Elgin is a very peaceful and beautiful plantation. We plan to come back!

My Mother and I went to Natchez for a mini-vacation and stayed at Elgin Plantation. Ms. Ruth Ellen Calhoun is the epitomy of a Southern Lady. Being from the south ourselves, it's nice to see that tradition is not totally gone. She was so very gracious and made us feel completely at home. She was also very helpful with local tourism sites, where to eat and what to see. It's only a 5-10 min drive from downtown Natchez, but just the sort of place that feels like quiet country living and a true blessing to come home to. We will definitely be back to stay at Elgin again.
