First let me say we are a french family living near Paris. US has always been my favorite destination, but we were a little worried in 2003 because of the events. Fortunately, Americans have been as nice and friendly to us as they always had been, and I have only good things to say about our 23-day trip across the US.
Natchez is one of the places I had never visited before, and this city is very special and beautiful. In October the weather was fine, and the plantations house with their stunning parks and oaks deserve a visit. I even enjoyed to drive the car from NewOrleans, the landscapes are beautiful.
I had chosen Twin Oaks B&B based on the reviews at tripdavisor, and I can tell you we have not been disappointed.
We were thrilled because Regina and her husband Douglas greeted us like we were their friends for 20 years! And after a few minutes with them you feel like it....They had some friends visting them and they offered us a drink with them, in their own house, which by the way is marvelous inside and outside.
Maybe they can't do that with all guests, but I bet you'll agree with me these people are exceptionally nice and warm, if you are lucky enough stay at Twin Oaks.
We wanted the biggest room but it was not available, but really the other rooms are perfect and bigger than average! It was much more than we expected. The furniture is very nice in the style of plantation houses, even though its a separate building. The bathroom and equipment are perfect, and anything you could need is there, down to the coffee maker.
With leads me to the breakfast served at the stunning Dunleith Plantation, just across the street : it is quite simply the BEST breakfast we had during our trip, and probably in our life! The quality is exceptional, i mean it, and don't plan on eating much for lunch, because you'll want to taste everything.
On top of that you have a free admission to visit Dunleith Plantation, and Twin Oaks is one of the seldom Natchez B&B that can accept children! We stayed there with our 8yo daughter.
Of course I did not try all other accomodations in Natchez, but I bet it's one of the best in Natchez. We have such a good souvenir with Twin Oaks that we will probably return to Natchez just to meet these nice people (and also for the breakfast to be honest) :)
If you think that they paid me for this, they didn't. But feel free to suggest them to do that :)
To prove my honesty, I must include the one bad point of Twin Oaks : I was feeling dizzy for two hours after I drank the gin-tonic they offered to me that first evening . Douglas, in a gin-tonic you must put some TONIC ! ;)
