The Acqua is located in Mill Valley- we stayed there overnight after a day of hiking in Muir Woods (not to be missed) and we had next day flight out of SFO.

The hotel staff could not be nicer- very helpful and friendly. There is a wine and cheese hour daily (5-6) and a full breakfast served on the second floor landing. The breakfast was great- waffles, eggs, bacon, bagels, etc. A remarkable variety of food! This was included in our rate!

We stayed in a bay view junior suite- the view was lovely, but it isn't really a suite. There is no real separation (let alone a door) between the "bedroom" and "living room." The room was clean. Wifi is free. The bathroom is spartan but functional.

The ONLY negative thing is that the hotel is immediately adjacent to highway 101 (i.e., I could throw a rock onto the highway from the front of the hotel!). If you are a light sleeper, or not used to city noise, this is NOT a place for you. We asked for a quiet room but traffic noise was constant. Luckily it lets up late at night, but during the day, it is loud and constant, even with your room door tightly closed.

The Acqua delivered as promised, as long as you have realistic expectations. Not luxurious but reasonably comfortable (if only a bit loud) and perfectly located for a day trip to Muir Woods/Stinson Beach.

On trip driving PCH1, this was where I stayed in San Fran. It was the best of all the hotels I stayed it. Very clean and comfortable, I was able to avoid the compactness of being in the city. It was still close enough though so I could enjoy the city. This will be my go to place the next time I am in San Fransisco.

When we could not find a room in downtown SF this past weekend, my partner and I decided to head out to Mill Valley to the Acqua Hotel. While the location is not immediately prepossessing - it is situated off the frontage road alongside the 101S - the hotel actually turns away from the freeway and the rooms look out over a small bay. The setting is quite tranquil and you face the wonderful Mount Tamalpais. The Junior Suite we stayed in was generous in size and in facilities with a nice big bathtub and separate shower. There is a lovely balcony, breakfast down the hall and tea and coffee available all day. We found this to be a perfect location from which to explore both the city and the outdoor opportunities that the Bay Area offers. This is a Joie De Vivre Hotel and has all the tasteful decor and design that one associates with this chain.

Located in Mill Valley, California, the Acqua Hotel is one of my favorite small hotels. Located close to Sausalito, a short drive to the Muir Woods and just a few minutes north of the Golden Gate Bridge, it has been consistent in offering pleasant rooms, a complimentary breakfast in the mornings, wine and cheese in the afternoons and access to a local health club upon request. The front desk and the breakfast staff have been pleasant and accomodating. The rooms are very comfortable. I visit Mill Valley at least once every three months and the Acqua is my hotel of choice. I have never been disappointed there.
