“Very Pleased - Definitely Would Stay Here Again”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2011

My family and I were very impressed with the Family Suite. The room was clean and our family of five never felt cramped. The continental breakfast was a good way to start the day. Also, the close proximity to all activities in the Mount Rushmore area was definitely a plus. Lastly, the staff at the Rushmore Express was extremely helpful. They provided detailed directions to all area attractions and they were always friendly and willing to help. I will recommend Rushmore Express to anyone staying in the Keystone area.

“Needs some Major Improvements”

My husband and 3 children, ages 3-8, stayed here for 4 nights and will probably not stay here again unless they do some renovations. We have stayed in many hotels from Motel 6 to Mariotts, and this one was similar to Motel 6...a little creepy.

First the positive-the room size was great! We were in Room 131 which had 2 queen beds, a nice chair and nice size tv in one part of the room (not many tv channels) and the other area was a living/family room with pull-out sofa, mini-fridge, sink, tv and fireplace. The bathroom was large and the shower was fine. The location was fine-we all walked into town several times and the distance was fine for even my 3 year old. We liked being really close to Mt Rushmore as well.

The negatives: The room smelled icky (don't know how to describe it but a cross between stinky feet and dirty diapers. The bathroom smelled terrible the fan was very weak. There were 3 empty beer cans in a cupboard under the sink and I left them there to see if the cleaning service would get them the next day-they did not so obviously they didn't even check that area. The bathroom amenities were terrible. No soap dish, a cheap looking plastic bag with a few things in it. Plus a ratty looking blue washcloth for women to use to wash off their make-up. It looked tacky and tastless. Also, the breakfast offered is not the greatest. The kids liked the little rolls but they were completely unhealthy. There was oatmeal and bananas that were ok but not many other healthy choices. The hotel could offer some cereals and hard boiled eggs and it would be a big upgrade. The size of the breakfast room was decent. We were always able to get a table.

I think this could be a decent place with changes. The staff were friendly, the room size was great and the pool was ok. Nothing spectacular but to kids any pool is fun. I think the hotel should invest in some professional cleaning staff and get some more classy amenities-not dollar store junk.

Room Tip: As other reviewers stated-the family suites in the back are probably the best.

“It was good.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2011

This hotel is central located in Keystone Rushmore area, it is alittle hard to find, behind the Roosevelt Inn on old cemetary road. It is not by the cemetary though so dont worry, it is average. We stayed in a two queen bed hotel room with out door access. It was a long ways to a tiny pool. The hot tub had way way too much chemical in it and it was not available to us. The breakfst consisted of dollar store sweet rolls that were ALL SUGAR! Their idea ofa hot breakfast was a toaster which you could make a pice of white bread toast. We had money stolen out of our room. We had coffee the first day we were there that was all. We spent 5 days there and would have left if we hadnt pre paid and couldnt get a refund. Not the worst in town but not the best. We had kitty litter and cat food on our floor. Mind you, we did not bring a cat! the room smelled like a sweety arm pit and we tried airing it out but could not get rid of it. The people at the front desk were very rude! We had 4 poeple and asked for 4 towels to shower with because the room came equiped with one, they gave us 2 more that the kids had to share... these were dirty!!!!!! No one spoke english or understood it!

Room Tip: request to not stay in room 104 it stinks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

“Extremely disappointed!”

My husband and I stayed at the Rushmore Express 3 nights last week. I would never stay there again. Though the desk employees were very friendly and helpful, it didn't make up for the way over priced rooms. Don't let the pictures on their website fool you. I don't know where those rooms were, but our room was tiny, poorly decorated and we could hear everything that went on in other rooms. The bathroom was very small, too small. The maids left one tiny bar of soap that was crumbled, no hand towels, the covers under the bedspread were crumpled, room wasn't vaccumed.
Nope, won't be staying there again.

“Sucks big time”

Out dated room, tiny bathroom. No water pressure in the shower. Hard to get to sleep because the walls & ceilings are paper thin. I felt like the beds & pillows were worn out & the blanket gave me the creeps.
