Castle Levan is a homey Bed & Breakfast run by a very friendly and laid back Czech/Slovinian couple. A comfortable atmosphere and the best castle if you want to feel transported in time. The lairds room where we stayed was huge, high ceilings, thick walls, the original foot print of the original building. With the original privy room concerted to a small toilet. Three spiral stone staircases, amazing views to the sea from the batlements, small but packed with character.
Seems expensive for the B&B but well worth it for the historic experience and warm, friendly hosts. Nice extras like fruit, snacks, coffee all day. Easy access to Glascow and beautiful coastal views.
Great for couples and families looking for a laid back break in a truly ancient castle...better than many of the castle tours were we had to pay high entry fees.

I really wanted to stay overnight in a castle while in Scotland, and Castle Levan was the perfect place to stay. Originally built in the 14th century, Levan has been recently restored (under the guidance of Historic Scotland) and converted to a B&B. It's everything you would expect a castle B&B to be (including very windy and narrow stone steps!) and the owners, Jan and Lydia, were very friendly hosts. After a delicious breakfast, Jan told us the story of the resident castle ghost.

Our room was comfortable, and it was a real thrill staying a night in a restored castle. I'd recommend this B&B to anyone looking for a unique night's stay in Scotland!
