My colleague and I are architectural consultants. We travel extensively throughout the UK and generally seek out B&B's in order to avoid the grind of hotel living. Every so often we stumble across a gem like Berg Haus. The rustic and charming Bavarian style house and grounds and the spectacular view of the Clyde estuary set it apart in terms of atmosphere. Hostess Ingrid is not only a gourmet cook but a extraordinarily helpful and friendly person. The morning of our second day my colleague said "I feel more like a long lost cousin than a guest!". I usually use Travel Advisor as a screening resource but in this case I feel led to recommend this wee establishment to others. Of the 300 or so B&B's I've stayed at over the last 10-11 years I'd put it in the top 5 for overall enjoyment. Well done Ingrid!

My husband and I had the pleasure of experiencing first hand Scottish hospitality at the wonderful Berghaus. The hosts were charming, and so very helpful to us. We had been traveling for a number of weeks when we reached Gourick, and it truly was a home away from home. Ingrid is a splendid hostess, and each morning was pure heaven in the little dining room. Between the views of the River Clyde, and the wide ranging and delicious home cooked breakfasts, one was very invigorated to start the day exploring the Scottish Isles, and surrounds. As weary tourists at nigh, we would come home to a comfortable, clean room with little touches like a fully laden coffee/tea tray, and some lovely biscuits. You are certainly made to feel part of the family here. What a credit to the owners.

I have been coming here for the last 4 years about every 3 months and I intend to keep coming back.
Ingrid and Perry are so friendly that I always feel at home and that makes me want to spend more time at Berghaus.....Not to mention that Ingrid makes the best coffee I have had in Scotland, bar none!
During the spring, summer and fall the gardens are full of beautiful flowers.
The sunsets over the Firth of the Clyde are breathtaking.
The accomodations are always very clean and neat. Put all of the above into one package and you will have a great time and a great deal!
You can bank on it that I'll be back.

From the first day I arrived, Ingrid was friendly, helpful, just a delightful hostess. The B&B was immaculate and extremely comfortable. I cannot stress enough just how welcome she made me feel. I would highly recommend the Berghaus to anyone travelling to the Gourock/Greenock area. Thank you Ingrid. :)
