“Clean, friendly and quiet”

We have stayed here twice so far, so we had a warm place to go with showers after snowshoeing. It is basic, but clean, the staff is super nice and the rangers all took their time to answer a million questions from my ten year old son. the hot tub was awesome and clean. don't look for a resort, this is what you pay for, but its worth it to us. we will be back, i am sure many times. the only down side was the wifi connectivity is iffy, but that really doesn't matter to us , we are there for the beauty and the outdoor activity.

Room Tip: Nice staff, basic and clean, quiet.

“Nothing fancy but a solid place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2011

Stayed at the bunkhouse in room 4 on Sept.28. I wanted a place that was close to Mount Rainier but didn't break the bank and the Bunkhouse was the perfect option. You can still see the footprints from the old loggers in the wood floors.
The room was basic. Private shower, toilet, sink, small dresser and a bed with two night stands. There is wireless internet available which really was nice since there is no tv in the rooms. If I didn't have wifi, there is a room where you can check out books and board games if you didn't have a book with you.
The only thing I could really complain about was the quality of the mattress and the pillows. The pillows were very soft and I ended up using both to sleep to keep my head up. The mattress was hard and fairly unforgiving since it was so thin. But if you're hiking around Mount Rainier all day, it hardly matters. If you're sore, you can hop in the jacuzzi at the back of the bunkhouse.
You can buy a meal or snack in the "lobby" room and use the free computer with internet if you don't have a laptop.
If traveling through Ashford again, I would most probably go to the bunkhouse again. It's a solid, affordable option close to the park entrance with a history to itself.

“Just what you need”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2011

The perfect place to stay for your Rainier climb, it provides basic rooms, good food, gear rental, retail shop, and a great location.

The rooms provide you with a place to sleep and shower (towels and soap/shampoo provided), which is all you should really need. Some rooms have wifi.

If you're climbing with RMI, you'll be staying right where all the trips leave from. The Bar and Grill serves good food and beer and is a great place to hang out with the guides after a summit climb.

Tip: Before attempting a summit climb, make sure to grab a Summit Dog from the Bar and Grill. It's good luck (well it worked for me!).

Room Tip: Room 20 - great for larger groups as it sleeps 4 + 2 (one on couch and another person sharing the do...

“Great "base camp" for a mt rainier adventure”

Did a weekend here and enjoyed the room, grounds, amenities and location. A little pricey for what you get, but it was the high season so overall I feel good about the price I paid.
The bar (part of the tour company I believe) was good eats at a good price. The onsite coffee shop was great in the AM.

“It was a place to rest our heads...”

But very uncomfortable. The bed felt like a sheet of 3/4 inch plywood with a piece of foam over the top of it. We got one beatup feather pillow each...mine was wadded up into a ball by the time that I got up in the morning...didn't sleep very well at all. It was clean and for the most part, well maintained....however no coffee maker, none of the convienences of a normal hotel that you could rent for less money.
