“Dream cabin in the forest”

We were in the Salal cabin. Space and luxury.
We remember this cabin as a big treat. Having your own palace in the forest.
Waking up in the morning in your king size bed an open your eyes and look into the eyes of a a couple of relaxed deer, a couple of yards away on the other side of the window. In total silence....

I hope you will enjoy this place, with a couple of friends, or with your family.
Note that the cabin is located is very, very close to the park entrance.

Misadvantage: the views are a little bit limited, as you are in the forest.

“Lovely cabin”

I don't know if I can add anything to the long list of great reviews for Deep Forest Cabins--except to say that it's all true! We stayed in the Cedar Grove Cabin, and it was lovely--comfortable, well-equipped, romantic, and perfectly set into the beautiful forest adjacent to Mt. Rainier National Park. A really nice place to stay.

“Perfect in Every Way”

My husband, I and a friend visiting us from the East Coast stayed in the Mountain Home Log Cabin for two nights in July. The immaculate, spacious cabin stands in deep woods, less than 3 minutes by car from the Mount Rainier National Forest. The cabin can easily lodge a small group with its queen bed, full bed and fold-out couch. The queen bed is in an enclosed bedroom on the second floor; the full bed is in the loft, just outside the door to the bedroom; and the couch is in the living room on the first floor. A spiral staircase connects the ground floor with the loft and a few additional steps are between the loft and the bedroom door. One needs to be careful ascending and descending the stairs at night to use the bathroom, which is located on the first floor, and contains a tub with shower.

The furniture is rustic and in excellent condition; the beds are comfortable, with nice linens; and there is good lighting throughout the cabin. The kitchen proved to be perfectly equipped for preparing meals, which we did. All the appliances worked well and there are plenty of utensils, dishware, pots and pans, etc. Even a coffee grinder and coffee beans are provided.

A cozy dining nook off the kitchen was a great place to eat breakfast and dinner, though there is also a dining table available in the living area. We brought DVDs with us and enjoyed watching films on the DVD player one night. It was a bit too warm to use the huge fireplace, but it added considerably to the cabin's wonderful ambiance and decor.

We peeped into the hot tub on the back deck (clean and extremely inviting) but never got around to using it. The main road, hidden by the forest, runs at the bottom of a high hill below the cabin. I only heard a couple of cars early one morning when I opened the window.

The cabins' owners responded to all my email inquiries quickly and completely. They even helped me to plan a routing that included Mount St. Helens and Mount Rainier.

If you want to stay near Mount Rainier, I give Mountain Home Log Cabin my highest recommendation. It is one classy cabin.

“The best.”

My wife and I have stayed at B&Bs, cottages and cabins in Scotland, England, France, Canada and the USA and this was the best we have experienced. We were in Mountain Home cabin and it was both charming and immaculate. The hot tub was clean and in perfect condition, the gas grille was in good shape and tongs/spatulas were provided. The kitchen had just the right utensils, dishes and flatware. And in a welcome change from past experiences elsewhere, we did not find a jumbled assortment of things that other guests had left behind. The only thing I missed could not be helped- I had to drive 10 miles to get an ATT signal on my iPhone. Normally I wouldn't care but our son was driving cross-country and I wanted to keep in touch. But the owners let me hop on their wifi from their driveway and I really appreciate their tolerance of my frequent visits!

“Great Cabin. Just what we were looking for!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2011

We stayed in the Mountain Home Log Cabin and it was just what we wanted for a few days at Mt Rainier National Park. Everything was perfect. The cabin was incredibly clean. All the wood surfaces were shining! Fireplace was just the thing to warm the room after a day in the park. We were there in early June and there was still 15 feet of snow up in the high altitudes!

The kitchen was well-equipped and had everything we needed to cook one dinner, prepare lunches, and breakfasts. falling asleep to the sound of rain on the roof was very soothing. Only negative I can think of is that there are no shades or blinds on the upstairs windows. And there is a skylight right above the loft bed so it feels like there's a bright spotlight on your bed in the a.m. You might want to bring an eye mask. Not sure why there aren't shades!

Felt like we were deep in the forest yet still close to the main road. The first morning we woke up opened the front door and were greeted by a deer about 10 feet away. The main entrance into the park was only about 5 min down the road. It was so nice to explore the amazing national park for the day and return back to a lovely picture perfect cabin in the evening. Didn't get a chance to try the hot tub as I'm usually skeeved out by them, but I'm sure this one was as clean as the rest of the cabin.

If you are thinking about booking a cabin near Mt Rainier stop looking and book the Mountain Log Home!
