“Entranceway to Ranier”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2011

What a wonderful way to begin a visit to Mt. Ranier National Park. Well located a few miles before the west entrance of the park, this B&B is situated on a beautifully manicured property with garden paths and streams throughout. Our hosts, Harry and Michelle Latimer, made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived at their home. Our room, an apartment above the carriage house was clean, spacious and comfortable. Breakfasts were delicious, homecooked and filling. Our innkeepers were extremely knowledgeable about the national park and other points of interest in the vicinity, including Mt. St. Helens. We would not hesitate to stay there if and when we visit the park again.

Room Tip: call and speak with Michelle. she won't mislead you. everything seemed quiet.

“Refresh the Soul”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

Harry and Michelle,

Thank your for the soulful time we spent with you. You are special folks with a commitment to detail and honor that is rarely found in this service. We had a delightful time and were regenerated when we left.

If anyone wants to review the ultimate John Muir experience, this is the place to stay. Harry has been collecting memorabilia since he was 14 and the collection that he has is incredible. The books that he has on display are exceptional and the material that he has in reserve is taunting at worst. Incredible finds to say the least.

If you are contemplating staying in the Mt. Rainier region, this is your destination. Michelle and Harry will feed your tummy with fabulous food first, and then fill your soul with good cheer.

If you listen to the folks that rate this place as less than excellent and believe them, then stay at Motel 6 and enjoy your slumber.

“"Absolutely A Wonderful Place to Stay and Great Food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

We stayed this past weekend and were greeted by wonderful innkeepers, "Harry and Michelle in their lovely home." They made you feel welcome right when you walked in the door. It was like you were finally home. We were truly impressed by the John Muir collection that they have displayed throughout their home and the wonderful collection of rocks from time gone by. The stories and history that Harry and Michelle shared with us of their adventures and the history of John Muir and Mt. Rainier, were absolutely delightful. This was just a wonderful bonus to a lovely weekend. If you are a true lover of nature and love to see the beauty that Mt Rainier brings to life along with the knowledge, I would highly recommend staying at this lovely B & B while visiting this national park. They were so personable and made sure to let you know they were here for you if there was anything you needed. The food was wonderful! Our room was very cozy, warm and the bed was extremely comfortable. One thing that I noticed upon our arrival was that their kitchen door was always open. You were able to see where the food was prepared and were welcome at the kitchen door to talk to them. I am very hesitant when staying at a B & B where you are not allowed to see the kitchen. That was a positive right from the start.

Although, we were not able to walk the trail Harry had carved out through their 11 acres of forest due to the rain and mud, we are looking forward to spending another weekend in the spring to fully enjoy the beauty and great hospitality that both Harry and Michelle bring to light. I would give this B & B 5 stars! We highly recommend this B & B-Char and Brian

“Let the Buyer Beward: Reserve Here at Your Own Risk!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2011

My husband and I were invited to a wedding near Mount Ranier National Park, and we decided to make it a weekend get-away. A month before the wedding I felt lucky to find a vacancy at Mountain Meadows. It was not on the bride's list of recommended lodging-now I know why. Two days before the wedding I realized that I had not received a written confirmation from Michelle, the innkeeper. So I called and Michelle's husband, Harry, said not to worry-they had a specific room reserved for us. No, we could not check in
before the wedding as their check-in hours of 4 to 9 are STRICTLY enforced! Well, we arrived at 8:30pm only to find that there was no room at the inn. They couldn't understand why I was so upset. After all, they were VERY apologetic, and when Michelle had discovered she had overbooked, she TRIED to call me. But what could they do when I didn't return the unheard call? Make other arrangements for us perhaps? Michelle said I was disrespectful for embarassing them in front of their other guests. But I didn't use any bad words (even though I was thinking them). The other guests were just glad that it wasn't them left without a place to stay that night in the middle of nowhere! I have done a lot of traveling all over the world. On occasion places have found themselves overbooked, but have ALWAYS made alternative plans. I find this attitude towards guests totally unacceptable. Be VERY worried if you reserve a room here.
