“marvellous location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2010

This is a beautiful house in a stunning location. We were a group of 14 (3 generations of family) and everyone loved the house. With only 2 parking spots and 7 cars it was a bit of a shuffle but there is other parking nearby if you get in quickly! The parking and the small courtyard garden were the only drawbacks but a small sacrifice for such a beautiful place. We would return but it is now a 'no pet' booking and we have a dog.

“Outstanding Accomodation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2010

We spent a week here with family including two young children, we choose the house beause of its location mainly near the beach and town, but were impressed by the description of the house as well. We were not disappointed, the house was spotless despite having pale carpets and sofa's. There was every appliance you could wish for and more. The rooms and beds were very comfortable. The children were very happy with the basement which had a large flat screen tv with sky HD which was a perfect spot fot the wii and playstation for those who were early risers! There was plenty of room for the 11 of us to spread out and not feel on top of each other. An especially nice touch was the bread, butter, eggs, tea, coffee, sugar and milk left for us and also a large bowl of fruit and 2 vases of fresh flowers. I would recommend this house to anyone who wanted to spend time in a large group

“Stunning Captain's House”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2010

We had a lovely week's stay at the captains house that I booked for all the family, primarily to take mom away as she cannot travel abroad any more. An 80 year old down to a 2 year old and everything in between! it was great! The setting of the house is stunning. Every room is very comfortable and the kitchen has every untensil you could think of! Extremely well equipped. Beach towels, beachmats, iron, hairdryer, all you have to bring is your shorts, or raincoat depending on how lucky you are with the weather!
Cromer itself - the coast line is stunning with great walks in every direction, along the coast or inland. The night life was a bit mixed. You have to get into the restaurant by 8.45 in most restaurants to have any chance of a nice meal, 5 minutes late, as my daughter and her husband found out at La Griglias and you are turned away. We found the service in the Red Lion and the theatre bar quite poor. We also struggled to find a bar that opened beyond 11pm on the weeknights and was told that everyone just gears up for the carnival week, so that was a little disappointing. Nevertheless we could make our own entertainment when needed and enjoyed cooking our evening meals at the captain's house overlooking the sea, There are some nice restaurants around. We had a very nice meal at the Dales in Upper Sherringham, however, taxis wasnt easy to get either and at one point we thought we might have to walk home despite it only being 11pm! Nevertheless, I would go back to the Captains House any day of the year.

“A Fabulous Find!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 May 2010

We were in a group of thirteen and had booked the house for an adults only break that coincided with a friends birthday. The house is truly massive! Its a little quirky in places but that adds to the charm.
The whole house was spotless, all the bathrooms were beatifully decorated, most with roll top baths which were lovely.
We had the double room at the very top of the house, a bit of a climb but again well worth it, you could see the sea while we were lying in bed!
The house was well equipped, and the basement was a godsend, especially for the men for watching sky sports...zzzzzzz!
The house is literally a stones throw from the town, the nearest Pub/Restaurent was the red lion which was about a 3 minute stroll. They do a superb sunday roast.
All in all a great weekend, would i return? Absolutley.

“fabulous house with a view”

we have just stayed at the Captains House, Cromer, there were 13 adults for a child free long weekend. We had a fabulous weekend and the house really helped, it is very comfortable, clean, and a real home from home. The view from the lounge and alot of the bedrooms are of the sea and are beautiful even on days of bad weather which we had. The owners of the house were there to meet us and gave us a tour of the house and were very helpful and nice, They recommended The Red lion pub which was a stones throw from the house for lunch which we went to on the Sunday and it was a good lunch and a great atmosphere. Cromer itself is a lovely little town with some very quaint shops, you have lots of things to entertain you in cromer and if you have a large group of friends and family i will highly recommend the Captains house
