“Lovely location and rooms, good food and friendly staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2011

I stayed here in summer 2009 and had a lovely holiday. Im writing a review now as i've realised how important it is to leave good ones! the location was great, it was a nice walk to the beach past the bars and restaurants and there was lots to do in the area, we did a few reasonable priced trips. The room was lovely and the pool/bar was very clean and the staff we helpful and friendly.

“Excellent”

My partner and I stayed at the Celay hotel for ten days in June 2011.

The hotel was fantastic and was the foundation of an excellent holiday.

We started our stay in a basic room overlooking the pool. The room was small and in need of upgrading. There was a balcony, however it was only big enough for one person to sit outside.

After spending a couple of days in the standard rooms, we were offered an upgrade to the deluxe rooms for an extra £10 a night. We took the upgrade and it turned a good holiday into a great holiday.

The deluxe rooms were impeccable, spacious and air conditioned. They had a large balcony which afforded an impressive view across the hills.

The swimming pool is large, cleaned regularly and there are sufficient numbers of sun loungers available. The hotel has a policy where towels are not allowed to be left on loungers overnight. This provided a much more relaxed stay.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms did not appear to get cleaned regularly and we had the same bed sheets for the duration of our stay in each room.

We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and would encourage others to do the same. The food in Turkey is very cheap and we ate at a different restaurant every night.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel to couples and families, however I would be wary of staying here if you have a disability or mobility issues. The hotel is quite high in the hills, with a 15 minute walk to the nearest town. The bus into the nearby towns (Dolmus) does not go right outside the hotel, and again there is a 10 minute walk to the nearest stop.

Room Tip: Upgrade on arrival! The new deluxe rooms are far superior to the regular rooms. Well worth the money...

“Great time!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

This review is late due to family circumstances but travelled the end of July to the Celay. Arrived middle of the night and was shown to our room in the new block as booked by the evening receptionist who was very helpful and curteous. Room was large and very clean. Was on the ground floor but this was cool and so air con was not required. Struggled a little at meal times as I am a picky eater but my husband found there was enough choice for him. Also enjoyed a lovely meal ,accompanied by Patch the dog ,at the restaurant on the corner of the next road down. Had a brilliant holiday with turkish bath, organised by the hotel, mud baths at dalaman although the photo disk bought did not work when returned home!! Really enjoyed the zombie bar and went on quite a few nights. Always made to feel welcome. At the hotel the staff were always helpful and we found the hotel a good base, although sometimes the walk from the bus or town was tiring in the heat but just took our time. Would recommend and would return if in that area.

Room Tip: We had an upgrade to newer block

“Pleasant two weeks holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

We spent two weeks here and enjoyed ourselves so much. The staff are friendly, the rooms are clean and face onto the swiming pool. We were able to keep our room on after the check out time as we had a sily o'clock flight time, this really helps you start your journey home better. Breakfast was pleasant with plenty of it too!
The hotel is about a twenty min walk to the main resort, so you can work up hunger and then walk it off if you've overindulged a bit. This means that it's peaceful for sleeping. It's nice to be a little bit away from the hustle and bustle, but not too far that you can't walk it. Plenty of taxis can take you if needed.
Loved the place.

“Celay Otel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

I have never stayed in five star luxury and I would not describe this hotel as such. However when taking into account value for money I'm struggling to find a good reason to give it anything less than full marks.

I stayed at the Celay for two weeks with my girlfriend, our first holiday abroad together. We booked a standard room and I was very pleased as it was on the top floor. This gave us a very impressive view of the hotel and the stunning scenery in which it is situated. If only the balcony were half a metre wider we'd have sat out far more often.

We were given the offer to upgrade for £10 a night to a room facing away from the hotel and although the room itself was a definite improvement and included a room safe and aircon in the cost we didn't want to lose the view of our standard room and weren't prepared to pay £15 a night for a deluxe with poolside view. On another occasion when money was less tight we may have done.
The room was fine in size for two and not too hot even without aircon as we were never in direct sun light.

The Turkish breakfasts were great, others have detailed the selection on offer. I will mention the breakfast juices; they were fantastic and I would quite happily drink either the lemon or grape flavoured ones every day. We ate at about 8.30 each morning and didn't eat again 'til 1 or 2pm. We found breakfast very filling and it gave us enough energy to explore the area.

We ate the odd snack and lunch item and they were nice enough, expensive when compared to other local establishments but still low in price. We didn't eat dinner there, except on Turkish night. We were in Turkey to explore! This was our first time here so we wanted to go to and try as many different places as possible.

All the Reception staff were great, the manager spoke brilliant English and was likeable. Another member of reception staff who wore glasses we found to be very helpful and friendly.
As a matter of fact the bar staff's English was a great deal poorer than that of the reception staff. Which is understandable, sadly some of their English isn't. This made it difficult to build a rapport with them. Service was usually fine but on occasion I was left waiting. This, more than the price led us to other bars for our drinks.
All other staff, including the service staff at breakfast and the cleaners were very good and friendly.

It's a five minute walk to the bus stop if you go the most direct way.

In summary the only real negative was the service at the bar. We had so much fun around the pool area during the day. The facilities were great. I would love to stay here again.

A word on Turkey. Great weather, I loved the dry heat, you could push on and explore far longer than in hot and sticky climates. The area is fantastic and the day trips we went on were incredible value for money. This part of Turkey is full of history, the lagoon at Oludeniz is awesome and there are a few sandy beaches if you know where to look.

Room Tip: Top floor is a good location. Less noise and a better view. Deluxe rooms I would give a rating of fo...
